The video clip had me almost wetting myself. Instead of the usual 'I feel slightly tired but somehow exhilarated by my ultra accomplishments at this stage in the race ......' We get the real feeling encapusulated in real language....excellent...

I had the pleasure to meet Dave Waterman and his mates at the last 2 WHW races.

I met this Guy (Dave) and his "Support Team" in a Bar after the WHW in Fort William last year.
Unless one knew it was hard to tell who looked more wiped out
Beer was flowing freely and obviously this guy was as tough and big hearted as they come.
He's support crew who I met enroute supporting Mike although a little unconventional were totally dedicated to their man.
To those that didn't know otherwise they seemed more like pack of Guys on a wild Stag weekend.
Brings me back to the Wild Weekend Fishing Trips I used to go on back in OZ.

Jez... Wild Weekend fishing trips in OZ for me didn't have that much to to with fishing.
The term "Fishing Trip" was really just an excuse for all the guys to "go Bush" and get blind drunk for a couple of days, wild times in Country pubs, fighting and all the good things our wives frown upon.
Guaranteed a laugh !

cheers Jezz..unfortunately this is the perception of people from Essex from the West Highland Way fraternity. It makes up for my references to skirts, woad and Brave Heart I suppose.

Apologies for infiltrating your forum, chaps and chapesses, but I occassionally drop in to see what Mike Mason is up to outside the confines of the West Highland Way Race.

Regarding the post above which mentions the WHW perception of Mike, I thought I'd confirm it here (lifted from my blog, which is law):

'...a half-ton of 9 carat gold jewellery that usually adorns his neck and chest....he wears more of it than Mr T in a bling-off with 50 Cent. You'll notice also that he's also donning a dodgy pair of what appear to be driving gloves. Unfortunately these cover the letters 'H-A-R-D' that he has amateurishly tattooed on the fingers of his left hand ; and the letters 'A-R-D-A' he has tattooed on the right.

I'm not sure where Mike's support crew come from, but my guess would be Southend or Braintree. I admit it's an assumption but I think it's a fair one being that they supported Mike in a souped-up 3 litre Ford Capri Ghia in 2006 and as I ran past them I'm sure I saw a sawn-off shotgun in the boot...'

True???
