Have any plans been made for the day?

John B picked up my number for me as I couldn't get down last night.

Looks like it could be a bit of a breezy one Sunday ... if today's anything to go by.

Anyone running there by way of a warm up?

I really enjoyed today's run.  I was nowhere near the front but did manage to get my target time of 45 minutes thanks to a fellow Benfleet RC member who i ran along side for the last 2 miles (sorry i didn't get her name but she had a really bright pink top on!)

There was some good Benfleet support as well which helped!

Richard.

I was very happy with my time today. Having not ran anything competitive since last October, I had set myself anything better than my Ingatestone 5 mile time of 59 Min 10 Sec.
I got 50 min 04 seconds.  So very pleased.
Thanks for all the support from everyone.

I thoroughly enjoyed that!

Like a numpty I forgot to stop my watch but it was somewhere around 35 ... probably over ... hopefully just under.

Brilliant to see all the Benfleet vests among the runners and the shouts of support were really motivating.

Can't wait for the next one now ... roll on Essex PB 5  bounce

Well done all  cheers

Thanks for all the support today from everyone at the club, realy helped in the last 2 miles after i decided on my usual plan of go fast (for me) and then die.

Well done Richard in your first club race and i won't be making any more bets with you down the pub.

It was good, and I will def do it again but feel a few were hampered slightly with inconsiderate cars driving out the finish straight. Those runners that expect they will finish early should maybe park outside the grounds. Par for the course I suppose. Not sure of my official time but by my watch started at the start line and got around 49. I expect i need to get out more now the knee prob seems to have gone. New shoes had their first outing on this run, maybe not wise as now have nice blackend toe with blister ! Thanks to all supporters and runners that kept us going along the lovely canvey seafront. Whens the next 5 miler !

How did you get on in your aquathlon Ian ?

gmike. Brilliant first race and club run. In fact well done all.

Id like to get couple more 5's under belt before my 10k on 26 May, can anyone suggest a couple, thanks.

Well done to all the runners today.  I was one of the vocal supporters at the start and mile 4 and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Some excellent times from you all and Mike M that's a really huge chunk off your PB and despite your wanting to swap places at 4 miles you were going great.

Ladies were brilliant again today Louisa 4th in 32:52 (awesome!), Sharon 1st Vet and Debbie Smith 1st 45 vet.

Allan Ollie and George all our yougsters were well up the field, well done.

Especially good performance from Louis' young daughter Lily in her 1st 5 miler she was steaming along at 4 miles.  Well done Lily  cheers  cheers

Well done everyone, a lot of good performances
Well done on your massive pb Mike

The Essex(Basildon) pb5 is a good race hoping to do that, not the most picturesque of races but then i hardly see the scenery in races these days  colors

Went off too fast in the swim, but didn't drown which is classed as a result as far as I'm concerned, 5K run was around 36:30, I was hoping for 35mins & got overtaken by both my workmates in the last 1K.

I really enjoyed it and I'm waiting for the official results to find out if I was last  drunken

I can relate to that Ian, I too went off way too fast in the Swim. I took it steady for the first couple of lengths, then thought I would try to keep up with the big boys and girls. Oh Dear that was my second big mistake of the day (the first one was getting out of bed), I however, very nearly did drown and think my swim and transistion time must have ended up at around 14mins. After my near death experience, I quite enjoyed the run.

Being my first ever dual event, I quite enjoyed it and it has certainly made me realise the task ahead of me to prepare for london. Thanks for all the support around the course.
Andy

Halstead Tri on 1st June will be the first sprint Tri of the year.

However, the week before is the Benfleet Duathlon, run-bike-run & the slim chance of beating Mikey's handicap.

You must have a bike in the shed dying for a spin round Hanningfield?
