Glad to see so many Benfleet runners out on Sunday in that cold snowy weather. Some even had smiles on their faces. Or was it grimaces.
Did anyone else have problems with snow and ice sticking underneath their shoes. I had to stop a number of time to clear the ice as the cushioning kept disappearing.
I wish I ran yesterday now........

I think I got home just in time on Sunday....7 miles coming back along the seafront into the wind and snow was tolerable....Bobby's group must have got covered judging by the time they passed me going down to Leigh !
I did slip in an icy puddle or two even so....the merest twanging of my hamstrings rather than big damage thankfully. British Summertime next week....you can tell it's on its way.... |

Blimey what a morning - We (Bobby's group) had to give up because it was just to dangerous. It started out quite fun and pretty but the novelty soon wore off and we were wet and cold.
And why is it, whatever direction we ran in, we were always running into the snow!
I was due to do 20, managed 15 1/2 in the morning and then went out in the afternoon - when the snow had all gone - and did the extra 5
Does that count? My legs certainly say it does! |

Must be the speed you are running generates a head wind
Not a problem I have, I went out Monday and still got caught in one snow shower _________________ Whad'ya mean "Run fat boy, run"? I AM running! |

I didnt want to risk injury and saw that the weather was better Monday so changed my 21 mile run to the Monday instead
I did have some funny looks when i was running along the seafront in my vest and shorts - lol
Steffs txt made me laugh from Sunday, he said "once the water from your eyes starts freezing on your face you know its time to call it a day" - lol |

Hey I woke up to 4 inches of snow in Lincs and then went out and ran at about 8.30/9am. It was fantastic, only slippy where the cars had made tracks on the odd road. Otherwise on the fields I had a few inches of freshly crunching snow beneath my feet. _________________

Did a similar run to the one over the Easter weekend, this morning. Although there seemed to be more snow falling it wasn't as cold so the roads weren't as sticky and I didn't freeze up so much!!! Good to see Godfrey taking his entourage out for a run again.....
Went straight over to Bedfords Park in Havering for an orienteering event after the run and they had some thick luscious snow there. Great fun running through that but it made navigation quite difficult at times as the marked paths were covered up and more 'paths' had been made by the sleds and other runners across the fields. Good fun but felt really cold and tired at the end. |

I couldn’t wimp out of this one, but luckily I only had to do 10 miles.
What might be even more of a shock is I didn’t even wear a vest or my shorts yesterday morning, I had to wear a T-shirt instead and a jacket and I even wore those horrible leggings, though I did forget about my hat which I was regretting when coming down essex way in a blizzard
Still thats not bad only 4 runs over the winter period where I couldnt wear my shorts and vest - hehe |
