| I have heard that you need to be in the "corridor-gang" to be able to run this one..or at the very least leaning towards the door. |

No, no, I think you'll find that this is definitely one for the faceless masses in the mid to back area of the room....
Last time I 'leaned towards the door' I ended up with no jacket, which incidentally celebrates its 5 months of disappearance next Tuesday. |

JBD: Good luck on your first marathon.
Incidentally, I was a 'shadow' member of the club, and ran my first (and only?) marathon before even entering the building. Surely some sort of record? |

yes, I can vouch for that.
The person who let him in has been taken out and shot in the corridor. |

| Actually the corridor gang are like the clubs door policy, you dont get in without your 50p and and trainers !.We are soon to introduce a smart dress code for the spring to ban men in day glo shorts as we feel this degrades the smart look of the CCMA....Mr C you have been warned. |

Two 10k's, Two club duathlons, Several Sprint Tri's all before setting foot in the building, must be more that one Marathon?
However, two club run's under my belt so I think I take a week off, see you next week. _________________ Whad'ya mean "Run fat boy, run"? I AM running! |

I'm in this one.
It has been 3 years since my last Marathon so have a few Cobwebs to shake out.
Will be trying for an improbable PB on this one but believe that if I can get myself in the right frame of mind it'll happen.
Anyone else doing this ? |

Looks like just me and Ernie doing this then......getting up at silly o'clock which by my calculations means we'll take as long getting to the race and being ready for the start as the time I hope to actually do the race in.... |

Cheers Mike,
Have you seen the forecast...blooming cold, blowing a gale and potentially sleeting....terrific.
Will be wearing the vest, t-shirt, hat, gloves.....will have the tights with me just in case. I can hardly wait now.... |

Good luck on the day to you.
Just think: This time last year we were sitting outside in the sun. London Marathon was hottest on record at 25c.

Unfortunately Ernie is an Albatross....as I know to my cost..when he runs the weather is crap! _________________ 'sometimes I am running so fast it appears that rocks and trees are standing still......' Good luck Ernie I know you can do it. I'll be looking for those results as soon as they are posted on the website.
All the best on your 1st one Steve. It was windy when I did it but it wasn't too bad as at least half of each lap will have the wind behind you so make the most of that and besides that you've had practice at Great Bentley !!
Enjoy it - you can always have fun playing "spot the spectator" !!

Thanks Debbie !
Hmm, big contrast to London then, cold weather forecast wont help with any casual support we might have had....never mind, looking forward to it now.
Will post outcome on my return.... |

Ok, so I'll let Ernie post his take on this, but suffice to say well done mate on your PB - and for driving there and back.
Just briefly, I got round in 4.13.17 which was a lot longer than I hoped for, but I am pleased as punch to have finished in that or any time given how I felt at around 15 mile onwards.
Give you a clue as to what happened (apart from it being cold and a bit hilly) if I tell you that miles 1 & 2 were about 7.45 each and progressively worse but not terrible whereas I "dipped" at around 13.50 for two miles at 22 & 23 - that would be the ones where I was beset by cramp and couldn't work out which was less painful, walking or running. Serious doubts about finishing at that stage. And I have to say that I have NEVER felt pain like I did for 30 minutes after the finish - calves killing me, couldn't ease the pain, could barely move but couldn't find a way to fend off the agony.
Anyway I'm going to do a bit more of a report on my own performance in my little personal public thread (how long will it take me....) under Training when I get some moments - first job is to get a lovely roast dinner down me.
Anyhoo....well done Ernie, top man.
Would it be wrong to sit back smugly having done mine and wish you all good luck for next sunday which i hope to watch from the comfort of my armchair ? I'm going to anyway....good luck peeps |

A PB sure but only just !
Put my heart and Soul into this race today and came in with a time of
3hrs 16mins 40secs and just 13secs faster than my fastest and last Marathon (Halstead) 3 years ago.
Hardest Marathon I've ever run.
Can't complain about the weather .... I have come to accept that I am an Albatross.
Well done to Steve experiencing probably his first and most probably hardest Marathon he'll ever run. |

Well done to both of you. A PB is a PB Ernie and I think that is mighty impressive. You might think twice about wanting to run with me now though I can only dream of 3:16 !
Steve well done on your first marathon, yes it is a bit hilly there and you did well to finish in the time you did if you were suffering mid way believe me I've been there too. Even after 8 marathons I'm still learning!
Rest now and you can watch the others going through it next Sunday |

Hey Jo
I'm pleased with what I did given the conditions and the marathon, but I was a bit daft going off so quick - you guys take it easy and run solid and you'll do great. |
