Hi,
I'm Mike, aka gmike, and I'm a newbie down at the club. Just thought I'd say a 'virtual' hello and introduce myself to the forumites. Came down for the first time on Tuesday night, after at least six months trying to pluck up the courage, and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening ... even though I found the whole experience utterly terrifying ... it was like the first day of school all over again!
Look forward to getting to know you all, both here and in the real world.
Happy running
Mike.

Mike welcome. You join a caring club frequented by many other Mike's. They either have this as their actual christian name or they like to be called Mike. Even the girls will respond to a hello Mike.....
all the best and best of luck with your running...
ps if you meet a really miserable git at the club that will be Karl.....he is not called Mike by anyone....
best rgds

At last, a real Mike who isn't from Hockley !
WELCOME, and you have made the right step coming to Benfleet Running Club.
And yes, it is still like going to school for some of us every week, especially with all the childish posts on this forum
(mike mason, please take note - no offence) |

Hi GMike
Mikey Here
T’is true what they say about the name “mike” and members of Benfleet Running Club
Although not all can claim the birth name of Michael …( “like unto the lord in hebrew” ),
All bar one notable exception aspire to be called mike.
Living in the hamlet of Hockley merely makes you doubly blessed
To save confusion when reading posts on this site ………
Many refer to Hockley as GORC ( Gods Own Running Country ), which is quite understandable |

Hi gmike,
Missed out on the Mike name as it had already been taken.
I've been coming down the club for a few weeks now on Thursdays, so I am slowly getting to know a few more names each week.
Hope to see you down the club soon.

Hi gmike, John here, aka johnnyboy, (makes me sound younger).
Also a newbie here and down the club, but only made a few Thursdays so far as am busy on the Tuesdays at the mo. Saw your post and thought id better be polite and say hi to you and the others! I was a little lucky cos a couple of mates dragged me down there so not too frightened and intimidated of the pros! Been out on a few short (for them) runs with bobby and (another) mike and really enjoying it. (Patient folks those). Finding it really helpful runnning with others. Have just downloaded and printed my application form and lookin forward to a new batch of jackets going on sale. May bump into ya all soon, cheers,
johnnyboy. |

Welcome to the Club gmike and johnnyboy
I think it would be nice when we get new members at the club that somebody should introduce them to everybody, would proberly make new members feel abit more welcome on that first daunting evening at the club. |

Hi you two. I was told Bobby would catch us new ones on arrival and sure enough she did, and made us welcome and made sure we were in a nice short run group, thankfullly, so dont worry. I think lots of introductions may make the newbies a bit embarrassed so i would say it was fine as it is. I have run with a few different faces so far and had a chat along the way with those so am sure to meet others in due course. Thanks for the welcome.
(Maybe if we all had photos here instead of nothing (me) or smurf pics etc we could recognise each other!! ) (no, i wont be adding a pic either lol) |

Hi Everyone,
Thanks for the warm welcome both here and at the club.
A mass introduction doesn't sound too bad now but on the first night I would have probably keeled over
You'll have to excuse me I if get everyones name wrong ... I can remember them all ... I just forget which faces they go with!!
... I'll probably start off with the default "Hi Mike" |

Expect a few replies then.
I should be back at the club next week and joining Bobby's group. |
