Time to get speedy as long as the weather is not too cold.

Anyone else up for this?  Email Malcom French at lfotm@serpentine.org.uk to reserve a place.  You will also need to purchase vouchers to run this race as no money can be exchanged in Hyde Park on the day.  I have some spare vouchers if any first timers want to give the race a try.

More info here http://www.serpentine.org.uk/pages/lfotm5k.html

Mark

Ah, sorry, I should make it clearer for ultra runners who are unaware of the concept of single or even double digit numbers

The distance is 5000000 milimetres
The time of the race is 1204288200 seconds (past 1st January 1970)

If you still cannot understand these small figures, I'll produce a complex time/distance number from them using my vast knowledge of quantum mechanics.

Hi Mark

Feel that unless Clive measured the course, and the organizers use an atomic clock to start the race, all the above race info will be totally inaccurate.

Can you confirm, race measurer, and officials time piece of choice ?

Mikey, I can help with this...

Official Race Measurer - David Blunkett

Timepiece used -  The Acme Water Clock (Limited Edition Model # 4), however there is some doubt over this measurement, as it was raining the day the course was measured.

Anyhow, now I am in-charge (I use the term loosely) the Merit Table the rules will change slightly this year.....

Does it mean the newbies get more points?

Dear Mr. Moreton,

I am still collating the new rules, but fundamentally you get more points if you live in Rayleigh, and less if you live in Hockley.....

This is outrageous !!!

It's a total reverse of the policy I've been following for the last 7 years

If I knew the Hockley bias was going to be reversed, would never have given up the job !!

Regards

Dear Mr Cadman,

It appears that I have been mis led by this club, who advertise that they are a caring club. I now fully appreciate how the words 'My A*se' have become attached to the slogan. I am now going to vacate Hockley and bugger off skiing for the week and hope that you have a good run at Brands Hatch. I have written to the promoters and ask that after you run, you will be banned from the race for living in Rayleigh.

Yours

Mr M Moreton

PS, wheres MM1?

MM1 is on hols (still I think - other half live eh? must be something with the rayleigh/Hockley divide)

Rest assured the "new" Merit Table 2008 will be nearly the same as the "old" Merit Table 2007. Which means neither of us will win it (again)

rgds, have a safe skiing trip.

Dear Mr Kadman,

Many thanks for your prompt attention to my previous post. You are absolutely right, neither of us will win it this year, although I hope to improve on last years position and beat Jez. (No hard feelings Jez) I thought my ambition had come true on Tuesday night, when Graham Booty said he would take a slower run. I thought.......YES hes coming with us and Bobbi, the ambition to run with a faster runner was to come true. WRONG!!!! Oh well, work harder Mike and the times will improve. Will soon be a years membership of this prestigious club.
Now, whens this 5k run again? Hoping that i dont break anything next week.
See you soon

MM2

Had a good run, a sub 20 minuter, at 19:47.  Glad to kick off the year with a reasonable time.  May have been able to go a bit faster if I hadn't decided to run down to the station aswell due to the A130 being shut and the traffic then constipating Benfleet....

Also, well done to Pammie for another good run, at 25:41.  Should give you a good score in the Merit table.....

Mark

Yes Steve, 6:22 min/mile.  Felt slow when running, but it was damn hard work.

Can't do the next couple of Serpie 5K, but hoping a good Saturday track seesion season will get that time down.

Today i finished in 26:23 unofficially waiting on the official result, it certainly wasn't a day for pbs and that, wet and windy and cold but a credit to those who did turn up

Can't wait for the summer, some decent weather and get my 5km time down to where it belongs.
