I have mapped the route (most of it from memory) so apologies if some of the turns are slightly out. it measure 15.8 miles so I know some of it is wrong, but the Gmap loses some definition across the downs.......

well it always felt on the 2 times I did it more than 15 and my garmin 101 clocked more.....perhaps it is longer. Only went to the race last year, but looking at the map online the route follows parallel to the railway line between mile 9 and 10 and doesn't go up the hill and round the Castle.
Also at mile 11 does the route go over the railway line there and not to Old Leigh as shown on your route?
That should save about a mile _________________ Whad'ya mean "Run fat boy, run"? I AM running! |

Hi karl
Between Miles 6 & 7 the route stays on the sea wall, and dosn't cross the golf course.
This is also true on the way back !!!!
Might I sugest you just ask Sue for a copy of her map to work off
Current one is only fit to feed to "Paddy" 1st thing in the morning

I would like to take offence at the last post by Mikey. Karl has spent literally seconds working on that map,and to diss him so badly when he is only a human (bless him, woof!) is a bit harsh.
Plus. I wouldn't eat it if my life depended on it. I rather eat a mouse (Mikey, any relation ?)
Anyway, I need a new walker, as by current owner is a bit crock (bless her, woof!)
Any takers...........?

Here's my version, if Mike is right about the turnaround point it would bring the total distance down.

Need an AGM discussion....are Dogs allowed on the Forum? I am all in favour of diversity but the next thing we will get are Aardvaarks, Wombats and dare I say it......Arsenal supporters......we may have to reluctantly draw a line somewhere....... _________________ 'sometimes I am running so fast it appears that rocks and trees are standing still......' Paddy you are a very clever dog registering on the forum. Always wanted to know what you get up to when Im at work.
Paddy would love to do the marshalls run on Saturday however is sadly lacking a two foot with two working feet that isnt running the race.
Just a couple of questions though to confirm Paddy that you really are that clever:-
Whats your favourite type of sausage?
Which dog did you insult and then have a go at this morning on our walk?
What do you prefer: rabbits or birds?
Lots of love your two foot xx at work _________________

Lucy, re my last post...forget it. I have just learned that Paddy as an intelligent and discerning fellow is a Spurs supporter. It's ok...he is eligible to the Forum.....

Karl
Don't give up your day job ..... ( whatever that is ?? )
Ian's 1st attempt is definatly going in the right direction
Well , most of the time
After Leigh station, the route follows the road parallel to the railway, then at the corner crosses diagonally to the Upper LH corner of the golf driving range. Before running along the back of the driving range, to join up with the creak path.
Also route run’s round the front of Benfleet Station, goes under railway bridge, before coming back on itself, and up School lane to the top of the downs.
Just need to sort out the start , finish, and Canvey turn round point, and it will be sorted
.
.
Paddy …… Don’t be so cheeky |

Sorry Lucy,
At Paddys age i thought it was high time he got himself a job.He is nigh on 50 never had a job, loafs around the house all day.Eats us out of house of home, I figured he should contribute to his board and lodgings and pay his own vet bills. So with that in mind enrolled him on a computer course, obviously he passed being such a clever dog and started last week at Heathrow in the air traffic control dept, helping to guide the pilots in!!
Like everybody else spends most of his time on facebook and this forum and even offered to take over from Karl running the site if he wants it done proper like!!
He would also like to remind everyone he is a Man utd fan,but took great delight in the images of Arsene Whingers displeasure! |

Is Paddy the typical Man Utd fan.. ?
1. lives in Scotland - or prefrably India
2. never goes to a home game
3. only mentiones they are a fan when they win
4. doesn't even like football when they lose
5. And says "busbys' babes" ? who were they ?
Being a WHU fan I am in two-minds. Glad Arsenal lost, but unhappy Spurs won. A loss on both sides would have suited me better.
And Paddy, keep up the good work mate
(I will send you the html code later for the new dog section) |

Paddy did a sterling job on the crash landing. Although all the newspapers spelt his name wrong, even The Sun.
Jez, talking of eating you out of house and home. Do you want my son, who is back from Uni, now doing his Masters, in exchange?
By the way, did Southend Utd once beat Man Utd?
hahahaha, yer not training me anymore!!!
