|
|
CONGRATULATIONS - YOUR ENTRY HAS BEEN ACCEPTED FOR:
EVENT DETAILS:
Luton Marathon
2/12/2007
10:00am
Lea Manor Recreation Centre
Northwell Drive
Luton
I know it is early, but get your entry in now for this late marathon.
A few of us did it last year and I really enjoyed the varied course (and it didn't feel like I ran three laps).
http://www.benfleetrunningclub.com/luton.2006/index.html
Also, if 26 miles is too far for you enter the three stage relay with some mates.

check out some of the RW ratings
"Surprisingly rural in parts, excellent organisation
In full: The views across the countryside were surprising. The course was not that challenging but the wind as you turned from teh top of the main hill blew youi to a standstill, not welcome on the third lap. 3 laps was also less depressing than expected. Very well organised, encouraging marshals, and showers"

(26.2 / 3 = 8.73333333333333333333333333 miles)
She will probably make you run that extra 0.40333333333333 miles.
Joking aside, it would be great to see a few Benfleet runners out for the full marathon and for the Relay
c'mon, think of it as pre-London 2008 training......!

don't worry, so did I and I checked it on a calculator !
Yes, c'mon MM2 where is your sense of adventure ??
If you are stuck for a third person for your team I can always double up and be in your team
(but as I am doing the marathon, I will need to be on the first leg)
Mike, you can be the anchor (yes I said anchor) |

Lorraine Peters 4:12
Bob Macmillan We think approx 4:30
Lorri Gibson 4:39
Wind and Rain for most of the first two laps, and just wind for the last lap.
Well organised race, I would love to say I enjoyed every minute of it. But I would be lying through my teeth.
Thanks to Karl for dragging me along the last couple of miles.

Hi Pete
Shame you didnt make it, I finished in 4:08. Everyone done well yesterday in tough conditions. The wind stopped you in your tracks at times, very tiring.
Hope all that ran are not feeling too sore this morning!
Cheers

Well Done to you all! It was so lovely watching you all achieve something great and in that horrible weather to! you all done so well. I woke up and thought o no the weather! do i wana go! but i had to be there i promised Lorri i was and im glad i did as me and Jade both helped Lorri and i loved it, considering i hadnt done much training i was quite pleased with my self running the last 8half miles, more pleased with Lorri getting her time she wanted so well done girl proud of you x
Hi to everyone hope you are all well, see im still capable of running! he he x dont worry i wont give up, im just not at the club yet but hopfully will be moved up to wickford in the begining of the new year so will see you all then.

Yeah well done to all, I was very impressed with Lorraine she did a brilliant time. Time for her to move up the ranks & run with the faster lot I think.
Karl, I'm not talking to you any more after posting the horrible photo of me. Your bang out of order.. lol
And as for my lovely friend Sally she made my day. I started to struggle from about 13miles but knew I only had 5miles to go to see her smiling face. From 18miles Sally & her mate run with me to the end & they really keep me going & took my mind of things. I'll never forget what they did for me... love ya Sal x
thanks also for the support from Bob's wife, it makes running better when you know you have peoples support.
Anybody got any tips of getting over nausea when running long distances, any thing over 12miles I get waves of sickness that get stronger the longer I run, more carbs, more drinks & sweets do not seem to help me... |

Lorri, hi. This sounds like sodium/potassium deficiency for which I can recommend SUCCEED buffers (NFI). Check out the articles here:
http://www.e-caps.com/za/ECP?PAGE...amp;OMI=10126,10071&AMI=10126
particularly the '10 biggest mistakes endurance atheletes make...'
What electrolyte/gels are you using?
rgds

I tried your tip Lee but for some reason it didn't work, maybe I should think of Kronenberg instead of Stella...lol. |
