Took a trip to the woods today to give our Graham some support while he quite frankly flew around the course making the water/swamp jump look easy where others were looking for the life guards!
Outcome of today was that Graham not only finished the 26.2 but he won the whole event, bloody well done too, clearly ahead of the 2nd and 3rd male runners who were busy having their own battle on the last couple of laps.
Pics to follow.
Well done mate, fantastic run.

Thanks for the support bro! Weather conditions were much kinder than the last event in March, although they compensated by throwing in a horrible dog leg through a foul, thick, stinking slippery bog - think Grizzly albeit much shorter, although you did have to navigate it 26 times. Anyway the whole experience was much more enjoyable this time, probably because it wasn't the morning after a huge skinful at the club presentation night, and winning does tend to ease the pain, even if was only a small field and there was not much competition outside the top 3. Shh!!!
I was going to invite Cap'n, see if he wanted to exorcise his Chicago demons, but the weather forecast did predict occaisonal sunny spells today so I thought best not to! Teeheehee!
Right off to the circus to celebrate with my kids |

Well done Graham, couldn't bring myself to run the course again (still drying out from last year) had to make do with meeting Ernie in Hockley Woods at 7am for his 25 miler. Hip exploded in pain (yesterday's physio stretched me out of shape!) so "only" did the 20 miles.
Ernie and young Adam did the full 25 miles
the furthest Adam had run to date. Well done !
Pics of our run, and the pics from Steffan to be updated soon. |

Well done also to Adam on his long run...
Good luck Steff with the Nike trials. If Andy & I weren't going away we would of come to watch the event & give you some support, nevermind maybe next time... |

Awesome performance Graham well done and something else for me to report this week (and it's not the Benfleet ladies!).
Watch out for the Echo mate as I hope they might print Steff's photo too as it looks good enough to pass their critical eye!
Take a well earned rest but then I'm probably wasting my breath suggesting that....
Well done too to the River Run runners. Congratulations on your first marathon distance run Adam guess that means London marathon for you at 18 !! And well done Karl on surviving to 20 miles running in pain - I feel particularly guilty I stayed in bed till 9 am and then only ran 10 miles! |

| Congratulations Graham - makes Chicago look like a walk in the Park (most of it was a nice walk anyway)!!! You even managed a smile at the end - well done!! |

Various quotes from topics:
"I only did 20 miles"
"Well done on the 25 miles"
"I got up at 9 and only did 10 miles"
"The 26.2 miles mud bath was so much easier than last year"
"Well done, makes our 9 mile long run a bit shabby"
(starting to paraphrase now....)
It's exhausting just reading this forum !
Personally I did no running at all this weekend....respect to you all and well done |

Sorry Steff, we will still be sunning ourselves on the 26th, well thats my excuse anyway...
if I took part in the trials, everyone would of gone home before I reach the finish line so I'll leave that for you to do... 'may the force be with you, master Steff'... lol |
