Excellent - looking forward to it now!
I am staying in South Shields and am going up on the train on Saturday morning. I'm in one of the White starts so will be ages before we get to the start line.
Yes Andy - a nice drinkie afterwards is a great idea. We'll be meeting our other halves at B - B for Balaam/Berry and Benfleet - so we may see you in the nearest beer tent |

Great weekend - all up hill though - why does everyone say it's a fun race to do? It's an absolute killer!
But great to be part of the race that you alway see on the telly. I felt like having a good cry as we went over the Tyne bridge - and that's the first mile! And no, won't be doing it again.
Also if anyone can help identify the 2 elite runners from the train - see photos - that would be great. |

Hello everyone,
Pleased to read that everyone enjoyed GNR. Personally found it hard but wished I'd tried a bit harder as was close to PB at 1/2 way.
Was delighted to take part even though i dropped my daughters phone at the finish, luckily it got handed in & we're posting off a letter to South Shields to get it back. Found the ups/downs challenging but enjoyable and thought the the sight of South Shields in the last mile was fantastic.
Took a wee while to find the Metro station, Wouldn't have liked to been there 1/2 hour later.
Lucky for me I was in the Orange Start - which could possibly lead to a fast time as delays were minimal - was horrified to hear that some don't start until about 11.40!
Would not rule out another go in the future as we has a good time looking round the area & was surprised to find that some bits were quite posh.
Well done to everyone & see some you At Sarfend on Sunday! _________________ The Reason I run?..........
