Welcome - I did believe (in my heart of hearts) that this Island had sunk without trace,
but due to (some) poular demand I have saved it from a watery grave.......

MM2. this was before your time. Pat (on his sick bed) started a narrative based on an island which included (ahem) some of the BRC members.

It was funny in parts, and long and tedious in others.

Once it sank (Pat pulled the plug, literally) it had no posts for a month of so and the auto-archive-delete setting on the Forum deleted it.

I have since turned off this option.

Being a late-comer to the literary feast that was the fabled Island story, I'm probably not doing it justice so suffice to say that Pat will need to put me right on certain sections:

Part 1: All at Sea.

Captain Blah, hoist the main-snail, lumber me timbers blah blah blah. "Shipmate Maston stop running round the yard-arm... blithering blah blah."

"Isle ahoy Cap'n" yelled Dead-leg Godfrey.

Then there was something about a huge rabbit named Lucky I think?

Something happened after that for about 540,000 words...
and finally the Island sunk due to a combination of alcohol and manic depression.

I may have got some of that mixed up with another story though - it was a long time ago (in a place far far away)...

Cheers,

John.

John, fantastic - that's like one of those exam synopsis books:

Muldoons Island for Dummies

or an existential treatise on the sadness of being ie, an england Supporters manual

Yes, Mike, that joke was so old even I don't remember it!
Steve, did you get a PB at Dark Lane? Stevie D, lol, what's that all about? Anyway, seen a thingy online about shin splints. It's called the 'Shin splint cure report', and it's supposed to cure the splints very quickly and permanently. Now how true I don't know. It's $26.00ish. If you're interrested let me know and you can buy the book and i'll borrow it. I figure you spent so much already a few extra bucks won't matter. It's by Adam Rees. Forget where the site was.
Regards. Pat.

Hi Pat,

No PB for me at Dark Lane, wasnt expecting to get one either, but after running the first two mile at sub 6:05 pace I was on track but along Rayleigh road I got a bad stitch and had to pull up three times during the last mile Sad
Still wasnt too upset as i know I can a PB at the Basildon 5km hopefully Smile

I'll see if I can get that book in electronic format off the net, dont fancy paying for it, my shins are getting better, but only if i constantly ice them.
I've done two races in a week and I'm running 3 days in a row and they still feel fairly good, so hopefully they are getting better (fingers crossed).

Hope your going to be at the club Thursday for the Badger run, not sure if ill be there, as I'm doing the Saunders this weekend, and I've got loads to sort out for that.

I noticed Terry T slipped in a little post there thinking I wouldn't notice. His 22nd one too! Oooooh.
MM1, 'work into a Muldoon somwhere', what does that mean? I mean, what does that meeeaannn? lol.
Steve, I mean Stevie, I mean Stephen with a ph instead of a v, I mean I just don't know what to call you anymore! Except for mad, I mean who goes out and runs 6.05s for two miles then dies. lol. What were you thinking, Retard? Why wasn't I there with my camera? lol. Did ya yak, Stevie, Steve, Stephen?....Oh, that reminds me you tight git. Buy that shin splint cure, I need it. lol.
MM1, Ernie, your opinion on the CANVEY ISLAND/benfleet ULTRA. What do you two think of adding a Canvey loop or two into the Ultra if it goes ahead? I've asked Mike Jordan but he's too shy to get back to me.

My shins seem to be on the mend so I might not need to buy the book now, still if you buy it i wouldnt mind borrowing it :bootyshake:
