I managed to scrap 3 guys from work together into a team, although they are not runners. They are all younger than me, so will go "hell for leather" and probably speed past me over the 3.1/2 mile course.

There are over 30 of us doing it this year.
Hopefully i'll be in first for the company again, my first race this year so I'm running it as hard and as fast as I can - Hell Yeah |

Mike - Plenty of 5kms coming up so I'm sure you're be able to sprint round in less than an hour |

Would be interested in any 5 or 10k races between now and October 13th.
I have Felsted, Canvey and Southend in mind. Any others I should know about? Flatter the better. lol |

Mike - There are loads of shorter races throughout the year, keep checking the board at the club, there are loads i havent done, but I'm sure plenty of people will be able to point you to the flatter races
The Race for Business was good today, it was nice that it poured down with rain 3 mins into the race - lol
My first race this year and I got round in one piece and ran at a good pace so I'm happy with that, cant wait for the Dark Lane 5km now - Bring it on
Mike I guess this doesnt go towards the merit table does it ?
Please Please |

Yes, got torrential rained on again
(this is becoming a habit) but pleased with my 23 mins.
Beat all but one of my "team Ilford", and they were all at least half my age (cos I'm a vet now - have you heard !)
Well done Steve, and Andy (who I bumped into at the finish) |

Karl,
You mean you let one of your work colleagues beat you (get him to do the Benfleet Ultra 50 and see how he fares )
Well done on your time, not bad for an old vet
Cheers,

Yes...
I let one of them beat me (only by 40 secs or so.)
so don't feel too bad about it today.
They are all b*llck*d today though, which is nice.
The rest of the team had money rideing on the winner,
so they had more motivation then me.
My golden rule is never bet on West Ham (again) or myself.
As Steve said, I didn't have my normal 20 mile warm-up. |

Only came 47th overall, worst than last year and I ran it quicker.
Average pace of 6.24 min/mile pace so I'm fairly happy with that considering the injurys etc |

Well done Steve and Karl. Yes Karl reaching 50 may have impacted your running but think of the nice Saga holidays you can now have with Godfrey! Ernie has started ancient history tours - Pyramids/Hadrians Wall etc - seeing the sights that delighted him as a boy....................when they were constructing them.
