Well, I am down for the 10k too. However, you guys need not worry about me beating you. Unless you dont finish!! (well the top guy, whose name I cannot spell, didnt in the London Marathon, so theres hope!!).
Which may explain why i cajoled wife to run, so i wont be last!!
Just kidding

Good luck to all

Dave

Suggest you park your car round the corner for one day

Problem solved .... Wishing you well on both counts

Dave

You just have to tell her to hold on for a couple of hours. We need someone to take our photos as we run past.

All the best for you both. Unless you mean by 'going into labour', that Gordon Brown has asked her to do the Northern Ireland job now that Paddy has said no.

I ran the 5Km lap from the Virgin Gym this week.

How is it uphill for 3Km, level for 1.5Km and then hardly downhill at all for the last 500m to the gym?

Entries on the day before 9:45 with the 5Km off at 10:15, then the 10Km starts at 11:00 I believe.

i think the harder you find the running the less you notice the downhills but they always seem to be less significant.
but i train on the route all the time the first bit is flat till the first turn then downhill for 100 m before a false flat for half a mile or so till the london rd then its about 1k of slightly downhill with another short bit of uphill before the next turn. then its the steepest bit of downhill for 200m or so then right and flat for another 200m a little more downhill untill the gym and then practically all uphill/false flat till you turn back into the school for the finnish.
weather looks like it might be a bit dodgy

Weather looks like its going to be a nightmare David!
I don't mind the rain but it's just when the ground is soaking wet I have zero grip and it feels like i'm running two steps for every one I take!

I run in Asics.
Someone told me that Nike offer up good grip in wet conditions, but I'm not shure the mayfly shoe would? That would be my 5 - 10 k shoe of choice from them.
Might try them though, all I've used is Asics, 5 different shoe types to date.
The greenie meanies for short stuff (ds racer)
The red barrons for anything over 10 miles-26.2 ( ds trainer)
The workhorses for training runs (cumulus, 2010's and 2120's)

It could just be that race shoes don't cut it on the grip stakes when it's wet?

Bare feet is an option, I want a pb at this race!!!

well, as a newbie, I will get a PB just to get round!!!

You still doing both steff?

Even if you did both and barefoot, i would be beat. I know, I know, theres plenty of time to get quicker. I aim to....Southend 10k in Sept will be my best goal

Still undecided Mike, I might just stick with the 5k as I'm bound to be sick after crossing the finish line! Fluid replacement down the Hoy post race?
Celebrate your pb! cheers

Well done to all the Benfleet runners today. 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th I believe, with yours truly bringing up the rear.

Steff, Well done today, a PB even though you had problems 500m from home. I am impressed.

Jez, Well done too. (creep grovle, BN'ing) Well I have to be nice to him or he gives me grief on Thursday nights.

Steve, (I think) Well done on being 1st vet home.

Mike, Many thanks for the words of encouragement,

Lorri, I couldnt keep up with your pace either. Maybe a night out will see us compete for the best P***head?

Barbara, Many thanks for your words of encouragement too.

Peter, nice to see a smiling face at the gates to welcome me home.

To all the others there, whose name I cant remember, or dont know, (and you know who you are) MANY THANKS!!

Hope to see you all on Tuesday, I am off to celebrate my PB of my own....under 75 mins, when i set myself under 90minutes

Cheers all

As far as MT and League go ....

ONLY OFFICIAL TIMES COUNT

If you're un-happy with your times will have to get them changed by the organizers !!

Mikey

Jez

Out of interest is your official time faster or slower than your watch time, and by how much ?

Anyone else with timing differences ?

Mines about right (new pb too) but Jez's time is out, I think he scraped in just under the 18 min mark.
I'd rather forget about this race anyway so I wont be contesting a second out by my watch.
