John, interesting philosophical point. However, when you reach a certain age..and your birthday cake is eaten at a session when you don't turn up (even if it is before your flaming birthday); and your biscuits are eaten by persons unknown (although Karl always appears to be chewing something)... then you start to think about the inevitable and this is a motivator....

of course it is true to say:

The trouble with quotes about death is that 99.999 percent of them are made by people who are still alive.

More back-handed motivation. How can you sleep at night knowing your quote nearly motivated me to pedal home with a crossing-the-Atlantic sort of steely determination, until, realising the fate of the originators, I felt depressed and could hardly manage to leave the office.

Please no more motivation, my poor psyche cannot take it.
