The Mont Blanc Ultra trail site opened at 06.58 yesterday morning and by 16.50hrs all spaces had gone - 2000 for the long tour and t
This is in spite of changing the regulations to pre-qualify entry based on having to have completed one trail race over 80km or 2 over 50km - road races not qualifying.
And increasing the distance to 163km and positive ascent to 8900m, and reducing the number of food checkpoints. But the good news is that you now have an hour more to complete - 46 hrs!
1) opening of enrolment : January 8th at 8 am (Paris time)
2) The North Face Ultra-Trail du tour du Mont-Blanc :
The 2007 course will lead you to make a tour via the centre of Saint-Gervais also increasing the festive and popular side from the start of the course. After the Start in the centre of Chamonix at 18h30, the crossing of Les Houches, and the arrival at the Col de Voza at 1653 m, the climb continues a little until around 1800 m in the direction of the mountain pastures of la Charme. Then swinging over onto to the side of Saint-Gervais, with a magnificent view of the entire Arve valley and the Aravis chain, a good path will take you up to the hamlet of Les Toilles which dominates Saint-Gervais which you will reach by a little twisting road. After some good refreshments at the central square of the village, you will then climb peacefully up the Val Montjoie in the direction of Les Contamines where a welcome just as warm as in 2006 will again be reserved for you.
The 2007 course will be 163 km long, for 8900 m of positive altitude change.
The maximum time will be 46 hours (from Friday 24/08 at 18h30 to Sunday 26/08 at 16H30)
3) The North Face Ultra-Trail Courmayeur-Champex-Chamonix
The solutions set up to thin out the pack at the Start from Courmayeur will not entail a modification of the course: the creation of an additional circuit before attacking the climb to Bertone appeared useless and uninteresting for the runners. The 2007 course will thus be identical to that of 2006, with 86 km and 4,500 metres of positive altitude change, with a maximum time of 24 hours.
4) Refreshments
Certain refreshment points will be only be supplying drinks: Les Houches, Col Chécrouit, Refuge Bertone, Refuge Bonatti, Alpage de la Peule, Bovine
The refreshment post of the Col de Voza will be moved to the centre of Saint-Gervais.
The refreshment posts of Praz-de-Fort, Les Tseppes and Argentière will be withdrawn.
