From Jack Large’s “Layman’s Guide to Web-Speak”:
Blog: one person’s online journal.
A blog is the web equivalent of the holiday slides/pictures you sit through when you go round a friend’s house. Usually only interesting to the people involved. It allows wallflowers to express their prejudices to the same level as the egotist.
Forum: Online group discussion.
An online forum is a virtual pub discussion/brawl that occasionally beats out some knowledge/interest from the alcohol-induced meanderings of the participants.
Present company accepted, of course .
Cheers,

If you say....
"A funny thing happened on the way to the forum", you may be talking about a film
However, if you say.....
"A funny thing happened on the way to the blog", you may need a doctor....

On the subject of blogs:
Jack Large's No. 1 Tip
Think twice before you commit to using 'dark' humour on a blog post.
Example: http://trixter.wordpress.com/2006/03/20/jim-fixx-irony-clarified/
