Still no show.
Karl: if it continues and you need a temporary (or even permanent) host let me know and I'll sort you out with an account.
Cheers,
John. |

Good to see it was only a temporary glitch.
While on the subject of website hosting - I take it the 80 quid (website costs) mentioned on the Treasurers report is mainly hosting costs?
If so then I can offer the club substantial savings on those costs without losing any current functionality.
Happy to discuss.
Cheers,
John. |

John, the 80 quid I think was for domain name registering (as we didn't have our own name at the time) aswell as the hosting costs.
I can give you a full breakdown if you want. |

Karl,
No need for exacting figures. Generally domain names are about £8-15 every two years the majority of the charge is likely to be 'space and bandwidth' related and will be charged annually. That's what I'm offering, the domain name would still need renewing once it becomes due.
Cheers,
John. |

You may have experienced some network accessibility issues yesterday, if so I would like to take this opportunity to explain what happened.
UK2 were the victim of an incident called “IP Hijacking” which means that another organisation (an Indonesian ISP in fact) stole a part of the IP address space which belonged to UK2. This is a very rare occurrence and is due to the unrestricted nature and varying levels of security in some parts of the internet (read more at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_hijacking). The impact was that some customers traffic was routed incorrectly, causing sporadic network downtime, delays and in a minority of cases the loss of data.
May I apologise for this inconvenience and re-assure that you that the UK2 team worked extremely hard to identify and rectify this problem, and all services were fully operational and back to normal last night. We also took immediate action to reinforce our network even further.
I would like to re-iterate that everything is now under control and that all services are fully operational and back to normal. |

Could have happened to anyone. One minute your IP is walking down the Superhighway, the next a vicious band of Indonesians kidnap it and you don't even get a 404 Not Found.
Karl, I can get you the same hosting as you have with UK2 for £30 per annum. It would also include:
10 x benfleetrunningclub.com e-mail addresses
Let me know if you are interested.
Cheers,
John. _________________ "As the days go by, we face the increasing inevitability that we are alone in a godless, uninhabited, hostile and meaningless universe. Still, you've got to laugh, haven't you?"

MM,
Not sure it was the Indonesians - thought it was the Libyans (they also shot Doc from 'Back To The Future') or was that the Librarians? They had a VW Camper and that is the vehicle of choice for most librarians.
