JogLe Practice Weekend - ( 20th / 21st June )
WE NEED YOUR HELP
Each practice day we aim to run for 15 hours following a “Trail Run” style route description.
Starting at 6:00am running though to 9:00pm
We need 15 runners each day
Each runner will run for 1 hour along the route, then hand over to the next runner in the relay.
To make things easier, we will split the runners into 5 cars of 3 runners.
Car [1] will be responsible for the first 3 legs –
6:00 to 7:00
7:00 to 8:00
8:00 to 9:00
Then Car [2] will take over running legs 4 to 6
9:00 to 10:00
10:00 to 11:00
11:00 to 12:00
Car [3] will then carry on for the next 3 legs
Followed by Car [4] , and finally Car [5] finishing off the run
We need runners to volunteer for each hour of the run, so that we can split them into cars.
If you are flexible, we can fit you in wherever there is a gap
If you can only run at a certain time of the day, we will work around your needs and put you in a car at the time that suits you.
If you normally run at the weekend
Why not run with us ?
You can either run one day or both, whatever suits you best
The important thing is that we get enough runners to do the practice runs
We need to know if the format works, to allow us time to fine tune the planning before the event proper
We Need Your Help
Mikey

Brief instructions - more to follow and all subject to change:
Each runner(s) will in turn run for approx 1 hour *. The driver will follow the route and stop fairly often – where and when it is safe to do so - to let the runner go past, to encourage the runner and make sure they are all o.k. Water or the runners own drink should be offered as needed. The driver must stop close to any major junctions to ensure the runner goes the right way.The person(s) who have been designated as navigator(s) must follow the given route and instruct the driver as to what directions to take. As each runner is approaching the end of his 1 hour stint the driver should estimate how much farther the runner will get and find an appropriate stopping place to enable the next runner to get out of the car and prepare to run. * this means some runners may do more than an hour and some less but it should even itself out over the 12 days of running on the Jogle itself. During the last half an hour of this cars 3 hours they should be overtaken by the number two car who will estimate how far the last runner will get and it is they who will dictate the change over location between the two teams. If they are wildly out as the runner approaches they should move on to a more accurate location. This location should have room for the two cars to park together to ensure a smooth change over.
This team should then follow the route to the end (on the actual Jogle they would be stopping for breakfast/ meals on the journey.) You may wish to take sandwiches etc as you will be out for some time. On the journey the team should observe the route and phone back to later teams any directional problems i.e road closures, road works, diversions, directional uncertainties on the route descriptions etc. The navigator or spare runner should fill in the record card attached as necessary. NB. The important part of this practice is not so much the running (we all know we can run for an hour at a time) but being able to follow the route directions and operate the changeovers efficiently. |

I have updated the official Jogle page, with more details (and provisional names) for the Practice Run
Please read, and advise Clive if you can run.
WE NEED TO FILL ALL THE LEGS, to make the practice worthwhile.

Guy's
As always my work gets in the way, when I put my name down this weekend was a weekend off. Now this weekend is On call, On Saturday I expect to work so can a standby for my times be arranged, I should know more as the week goes on but I do not want to ruin this with hoping to be able and pulling out at the last moment. For the few who know what I do for work I hope you understand. I will let you know if I can run and if I can, I will fit in as needed. Sorry
