Theres usually a thread over on Runners World devoted to cheque clears, from memory first lot of cheques clear at the end of the month, if you've bequathed and don't make the first ballot you are placed in a 2nd ballot. These cheques seem to clear first few days of november, or they have done the last few years

See its all very scientific

In the past the cheques get cashed one week after the closing date. This year it's Friday 19th October, so the cheques will get cashed on Friday 26th.

The non-bequeathed cheques get cashed first, so if you didn't bequeath your entry fee then you should see a cashed cheque to confirm you are in between 19th-26th onwards.

confused...??

I am also waiting on a cheque to clear (and I didn't bequeath)

I remember the stress of waiting for my cheque to cash the last two years (but didn't!)
Fingers crossed for you all.
If you don't get a ballot place, get intouch with Little havens and get a golden bond place from them. I ran FLM for them in 2007. Fantastic local charity with an easily achievable pledge amount. Go on, do it, I'm still going to raise money for them even though I have a good for age time for 2008.

No to all three, now and for a few years yet. Retiring from the London Maraton for a while, but I'll still be out to spectate and cheer everyone on.

My cheque didn't clear until the end of November last year and I didn't received my "Do you really want to do this?" pack until the first week of December.

Pammie,
In August 2006, i got out of breath going up stairs. I managed to complete the London Marathon this year. So, if i can do it, then anyone can. From a complete novice, the hardest part was the training and to be honest, I think I should have done a bit more. But, I finished!!
No more though...........yet

Thanks Mike
The thing is when you've done one, you know what to do to make the next one better in other words you learn from your mistakes.
My mistake i didn't do enough long runs and the ones i did weren't long enough. Maybe running in winter will be easier than the summer,

Well done on your Marathon sounds like its not a definite no from you then.

Been out this morning nice 6 mile run (working tonight ... boo... hiss...) feeling very motivatedcould easily of ran further, but didn't.

Pammie, it is harder to do the long runs in the winter.
Especially on your own.
You need to get more social.
Our Sunday long runs continue throughout the Winter - come and join us !

Also, get yourself booked into a few races - don't race them, but use them for training long runs, with mile markers and drinks...it is easier to focus on these.

Think about.......

Les Witton Memorial 10 (Dartford 10) 9:30am, Sunday 20 January 2008
Benfleet 15 Marshalls run Saturday 26th January 2008
Great Bentley Half-Marathon 10:30am, Sunday 3 February 2008
Equity Brentwood Half-Marathon 10:00am, Sunday 9 March 2008

But as I say - not to race, but as training runs + extra mileage if your training plan says so. It is a consistent long run once a week that is always the key.

Got my rain jacket yesterday .... Which I shall wear with pride

Still have hopes of getting in though the 4 club places that have been allocated to us this year.

For those new to the system .... This is how it works

You look back over the last 3 London Marathons ( 2007 , 2006 , & 2005 )

You get 1 point for being a club member for each of the years, and 1 point if you applied to race on that year.

So If you've been a member for all of the 3 years, and you applied each year you would get 6 points.

You then have to deduct points for the years you ran London. It doesn’t matter how you got your place, through the ballot, a charity place, or a doggy number from a friend !! Its that you ran or not that count's.

You loose the following points :

If you ran in 2007 - You lose 3 points
If you ran in 2006 - You lose 2 points
If you ran in 2005 - You lose 1 point

So if you started with a maximum 6 points, but also ran in all of the last 3 marathons, you would lose 6 points as well !!!
