Next Session – Tuesday 8th April

We will again be at Castle Point Athletics Track,
Waterside Farm Sports Centre, Somnes Avenue, CANVEY ISLAND, SS8 9RA. Our meet time is still 6pm for an hour, but the session will cost £ 1.00 each (payable to Waterside) We will be doing various running activities on the track, as well as relay practice, hurdles and timed distance and sprint runs. Please wear normal running shoes / trainers and outdoor clothing. Coat with a hood would also be recommended incase it rains.

We return to our outdoor training ground Benfleet Recreation Ground, Brook Road , Benfleet , Essex . SS7 1NA. on 15th April.

Norwich Union Shine Awards

I am posting results on the web, so everyone can see how they are doing and their current award levels.
There are many permutations, and awards you can achieve, but we will assess and choose one for everyone to aim for shortly.

Sports Hall is a national team event, based on the Shine activities.
This is run as a mini-tournament, encompassing running, throwing and jumping activities.
We have an excellent opportunity to take part in our own tournament, in Southend on Saturday 19th April. Please check your diary’s and let us know (on the list at the club, or by email) if you and/or your children are available. This is an extra session, and there will be no costs involved. This will be a great event to build on the skills learned by al the children. The Sportshall Athletics Awards provide the opportunity for participants to take part in indoor athletics. Children can achieve a Sportshall Athletics Award by completing four activities against the attainment targets - one from each of the Running, Jumping, Throwing and Agility Sections.

JUNIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS (& Handicap)

It has been agreed to use the Thrift Green children’s run (Brentwood, 20th July) as our first Junior Club Championships and Handicap race. This is a open race 1.5km (1 mile), on contained playing fields and it is hoped we can get a good turnout. Entry forms are available from our website , but if you can again check your diary’s and let us know (on the list at the club, or by email) if you and/or your children are available. This is run by another club, and there will be a minimal £ 1.00 entry fee, although all finishers will receive a medal. We will also have our own Club Championship trophies/prizes exclusively for our runners.

MERCHANDISE

Jackets -These have been ordered, and sent for the embroidering.
We should have them back in a couple of weeks or so.
