This week I have mostly got playing on my MP3/iPod...?

This week I have mostly got playing on my MP3/iPod...?

So tell us what's been keeping you running this week, via the old MP3/iPod/walkman.

A great post topic Karl.

I have an eclectic taste and try and package up different types of music for different parts of race. This calls for skillful analysis of pace times vs ascents/descents/toilet breaks and stopping to shout expletives at various foreign runners - especially the French git that hit me in the nads with his trekking pole.....but I digress.....

Opening section of music will be slow and graceful:
Thee More Shallows (my brother introduced them to me)
Chris Isaac
Crosby Stills & Nash...Young may sneak on
America
Ian Dury
Barclay James harvest

Middle section (trying to get cadence up)
AC/DC
Led Zep - Black Dog is great...especially if you are being chased by one
red hot Chillis
Rolling Stones
Deftones
Robin Trower....he is from Southend you know)
Incubus
Muse
hendrix
Faithless

Back end (sombre, ease pain by thinking of others pain)
radiohead
Joy Division

the trouble is my planning always lets me down so that AC/DC will blare out whilst struggling up a hill or mountain when it doesn't flaming help. And when you approach the downhill and want to tear off Laura Nero will start playing something that makes you cry......

I await Steffen's listing which will no doubt include Mantovani and Robbiw Williams....

Great selection MM Exclamation

Hoping to use the wife’s Nano (once I get an armband for it) so this WILL be what I'll be listening to on that long 2 mile jog in the new year!

Sticking with MMs phases (as is necessary on such a long run) the full listing is as follows:

Warm-up: Lionel Richie - Running With The Night
Junior Walker & The All Stars - (I'm A) Road Runner
Along sea-front: Spencer Davis Group - Keep On Running
Up Pier Hill: Kate Bush - Running Up That Hill
Home straight: Roy Ayers - Running Away
Martha Reeves & The Vandellas - Nowhere To Run To

Post-run cool down: Public Enemy - Security Of The First World (trainspotters only: the 'joke' is convoluted so if anyone gets it I'll buy them a drink at Presentation Night!)

This is obviously my 'light' selection - I expect that my 'heavy' selection would be of more favour with you 'head-bangers':

Intervals: Clash - Should I Stay Or Should I Go

Homer's dash: 5,6,7,8s - Woo Hoo

XC: Bow Wow Wow - Go Wild In The Country
XC2: Skids - Into The Valley

Pre-FLM: Clash - London Calling
Post-FLM: Cure - Let's Go To Bed
FLM lottery loser: Queen - Another One Bites The Dust

Cheers,

John

PS MM - there's nothing wrong with a bit of Man'i or Mr Rock DJ - shame on you.

P.s - MM, the closest I ever got to pop music was listening to the Killers lp once, it was crap and I've never gone there again! haha! I see you list the Deftones also! Good man, the new record is very good I saw them the first time they toured the u.k with the Adrenaline record. Great band!
