The Great North Swim is a one mile....The Great North Swim is a one mile open water swim taking place on Lake Windermere on Saturday 13th September. Inspired by the Great North Run, elite competitors will form the front end of the field while the rest will be comprised of swimmers of all abilities. Wetsuits are optional and will be available to hire on the day.
Can I go from "crap-swimmers-are-us" to swimming a mile in 2 months..???

I suppose arm-bands are a no-no.....?
Not sure I can doggy paddle a whole mile, and open water would suggest no sides to hang on to for a breather either....nope, not going to happen for me, duathlons all I'm ever going to do...

The Great North Swim is a one mile....That's the spirit fella's
But why go all that way - there is a swim - fairhavens - on 27 Sept from Southend Pier to Thorpe Bay - only 3k
And you could jog home after!
