Next Session – Tuesday 26th February
After our best attendance ever last Tuesday (34 runners) we can’t wait until the Spring nights
start to get lighter and we can get everyone running out on the field again !
We guess this will be around the middle of March.
This week in the hall though we will be concentrating on varied activities to get everyone active, and to accumulate some more points towards their Shine Awards certificates and medals.
Part of the Shine awards activities involve throwing and jumping, so last week we incorporated a measured standing jump and the chest push using a 1kg ball. (don’t try this at home!)
Even though we have only a few activities on the score board, I will be giving everyone their own Individual Score Sheet this week to show them how they are getting on. The first award, which has already been gained by a few of our 7-12 year olds is the star:track award which incorporates one running event, one jumping and one throwing. Their points tally for these three events then relates to a qualifying colour band. We will aim to improve on these performances over the coming weeks.

2nd March - Greenwich Meridian 2K Fun Run - Greenwich Park, Blackheath, London, SE10 8QY
30th March - Joe Cartwright Fun Run 1.5 miles - Eldon Way, Paddock Wood.
20th April Nicola’s 5 – Local Race - Canvey Infant School, Long Road, Canvey.
Infant and Junior Sprints on the school field, start 9:45am. 100m and 60m.
Jackets
We have found a supplier of jackets suitable for the children, similar to the adult version.
We will post a list for anyone who is interested in purchasing one.
Approximate price will be in the region of £ 12.
Sport Relief Weekend 14th-16th March
Saturday 15th March – we will be organizing a 1 mile run with children and parents.
More details soon, but please ensure you have purchased your Comic Relief socks from Sainsbury’s in good time !
We will be running a £ 2.00 lottery Sport Relief poster.
If you want to join in and pick a celebrity, please bring your money along to the session.
Half the money raised will go to the winner, and half to Comic Relief.
