As you know, this year was the last running of the Nicola 5 ….
Should we allow this race to die ?
Currently we’re a running club, that doesn’t organize a road race
With our experience and excellent reputation from the Benfleet 15, shouldn't we be able to keep this race going.
The “Benfleet Nicola 5” has a nice sound to it …..
What does the club think ?
Would you be willing to help in the organization ?
Lets have some feedback, and we’re bring it up at the next committee meeting

Yep, I agree. I know Clive has been "in discussion" with Steve (the present organiser) and he said that he had interest from the Rotary Club as well.
Steve said the main reason for calling it a day is that is is a constant reminder (which must be hard) so using "Nicola" in the title may, or may not be a good idea.
Having said all that, orgainsing this race would be a doddle after our epic Benfleet 15.
But, as ever we would need quite a few marshalls and other people to do other jobs.....and knowing Clive is retiring next year we can't rely on his organisational expertise. (well not too much anyway)

I'd like to help.
This was my first race a number of years ago. The atmosphere has always been great and it encouraged me to join a the running club instead of jogging on my own.
5 miles was a real challenge back then and hopefully others will benefit if we keep this popular local race in the diary.
I'm in.

I think we should name the race after clive and lynn "The Hopkins 5" as they have given so much to benfleet running club be nice to give something back to them
