i was in Italy last week and while i was away enjoying the sun i signed up for a nice trail race which wasn't to nice in the 28oC heat

race details below:-

The race is hard, because of the transit on the beach and on the rope bridges, that won’t be made easier even by the beauty of its scenery. A race for skilled and well trained athletes, that will compete for a prestigious result, but fascinating for everyone wants to put himself on the test in a real challenge, enthralling and suggestive, against Mother Nature. The race will assign, this year, the Italian XTERRA Trail Run title and the slots that allow to participate in the world final in Honolulu on December 2009.

after all that i ended up finshing 6th but the guy in front of me disqualified so that makes me 5th

Well done Matt, sounds like you had a great run. I dont like the look of those rope bridges, they look a bit too wobbly for my liking.

Hey well done Matt see all you need to do is run international races and you won't have to worry about Charlotte trying to steal your thunder!

Don't tell you me you ran the half marathon?? Or was it the 5k trail? Quite frankly 1k would be too much for me and as for those rope bridges - aaarghhh, for someone with a fear of bridges it'd be my worst nightmare!

So 5th - bloody well done

sorry Debbie only the 5k in the heat i thought 21k would have been a little to crazy even for me

i have to admit the bridges were a little bit worrying when your running at speed

i don't think i'll ever be able to match charlotte's winning ways no matter how far i travel to do my races

Thanks Matt - you will rate a whole paragraph in my report for Friday's Echo this week though!! If the Echo can think of something witty you might grab the headline - I won't be responsible if it is something like "Matt cops the Italian Job"...

At least it'll never be as bad as the headline they gave me after the Disney World half - "Debbie does Disney"... there is no honour amongst journalists!!!
