Hatfield Broad Oak 10k - 25th MayBit late with this but thought I'd write a report for those that might fancy it next year.
Only 4 BRC runners and this may be because you can't enter on the day as it's now a chip timed race. A well organised, relatively small event for all abilities. The course is a figure of 8 around the quaint village, taking a 4k loop to start through country lanes, a 2k in & out through the village followed by another 4k loop around the lanes. The course is 'undulating' as we seemed to be either going up or down although not a horror like Thrift Green. I wouldn't say it's a PB course although the 3 more proffessional guys way in front of me may beg to differ!
I had a 'Weston Super' - all my own fault I'm afraid, you'd think I'd know better!!
Notes to self:
1. Ensure drawstring shorts are tied before the start - this will prevent a pitstop after 200m to regain ones modesty.
2. Visit the toilets as frequently as required prior to the start - this will prevent the desperation during the 2k village loop where there are no 'nature facilities' and another pitstop at 7k on sight of first hedge.
Anyway I digress. Definitely one to put on the calendar for next year if looking for a different race to do.It's always the last May bank holiday and great for the family as 3 or 4 viewing points and with a nice pub lunch afterwards you can't go wrong. Thanks to Pete for the support and photographs.
