Essex PB 5, Bluebell 5 and Halstead MarathonCongrats to everyone who ran today in the usual miserable English weather.
I did the PB 5 and the race turnout was not very good. Maybe 100 runners in total. Not complaining too much though because getting into my stride was really easy today, and no damage to the knee (fingers crossed).
The start was bad though, we hadn't realised the race had actually started until the people in front had started running. I heard no horn or gun except the one that signalling the beginning for the kids fun run.

ah you should have done the bluebell weather was a bit drizzly but the sun even came out at the end !
quite pleased the pb didnt have a good turn out and they mucked up the start , not for you though pete. im anoyed they moved the date so it clashed with the bluebell as otherwise id have done both. hopefully next year they can re arrange the date so there can be a better turn out.

Any more news on times or positions of the Benfleet runners who did these 2 races? I know Tony White had a good Bluebell 5 finsihing in the top 30 (well done Tony) and Amanda and her Mum Sue Ward were both back to racing at Bluebell today so really well done to you both - glad to see you both back.

I was at the Essex PB 46:44 unofficially. Pleased with time considering the training of late, know i can run 4-5 minutes faster
The start was a bit of a fiasco though

Don't worry Pammie
You don't need a bike to compete
Why not take part in the team event, where one person runs, and the other cycles
Obvious there would be no end of cyclists willing to partner you,
just let me know, and I'll advertise the vacant position down the club tonight.

He does try that mikey don't he. I might be tempted though i'm not fast really would like short races to get my speed back only problem i don't drive as yet, it seems from the map a bit out of the way. I can get to Benfleet station so if someone can give me a lift to the venue.

Ok Pammie ..... The search is on
We need :
1 Cyclist to be your team partner
+
1 Benfleet member to give you a lift over to Haningfield
Shouldn't be a problem ..... Any volunteers out there ?
