Hi Steve

I've just PM'd you with my mobile number.  I'm just off Eversley Road so just down the road.  What time are you thinking of leaving?  I did it last year and know the way there unlike some people I can mention who got lost getting there......

Mark
Mike Mason

have they finished yet?
Graham

Come on boys & girls - let us know who you got on.
Mike Mason

Just got a text from Ernie - 2.24 and a PB...not bad for a 70 year old...
Jez

PB for me too.2.03.15, not sure of the others but capt Dessie just behind me in 2 .05 something I believe.Good weather and not too cold once you got going.
Steffan

Well done to all, gutted to miss this race.
I predict a couple of championship qualifying times at London this year, very well done boys, hope your ankle is ok Dessie.
cheers
Ernie

I think it was those pills I gave you Jez ?
I swear by them !
ps Mike Mason lives on them.
Karl C

what are these magic pills then...sanatagon...??

WELL DONE to you all, great PB's.
cyclops
Graham

Great times! You'll be after Toddy's record at this rate Jez.
Ernie

It would be fair to say that Benfleet did itself proud today.
Excellent running conditions.
Well done to all who took part many of whom were new to the distance.

Re- "Magic Pills"

Succeed!

SUCCEEDŽ BUFFER / ELECTROLYTE CAPSULES Heavy sweating during training or racing can lead to a loss of critical electrolytes. Excessive losses can lead to hyponatremia (critically low blood sodium) which can eventually cause collapse and death in extreme circumstances. While modern sports drinks can provide adequate sodium input for a few hours of exercise, they are often insufficient over longer periods. Energy bars and gels are often low in sodium and so additional electrolytes may be needed. Maintenance of proper electrolyte levels may also help reduce swelling of hands and feet after many hours of exercise, helping to reduce "hot spots" and blisters on the feet. It is important to hydrate sufficiently when using Succeed! Capsules. Remember to consume water appropriate to the situation and do not exceed the recommended amounts. Per capsule (100 Capsules/bottle): sodium 344mg, potassium 21 mg
JBD

Yes, really well done to all of you - interesting to see the nervous apprehension in the build up, got to respect 20 miles I suppose, but Nick, Dean, Kevin, Mark excellent times and well pleased for Ernie too, wasn't talking up his PB chances before we set off so must feel great !

I had a light interlude where I passed two tall blokes and told them it only to improve my view (scenic of course), which given that then put me behind two young girls, they found quite amusing !

I finished and lay flat out on the grass for a good 5 mins plus, suitably shattered but pleased with a debut 20 miles in around 2 hours 50 mins - 7 miles and over an hour more than I have ever run, and I certainly feel it.

Pete the Old One got sold a dummy along with a couple of others and ended up doing 22 miles, but finished smiling !

Well done Jez, Steve and all the fasties too. Lovely day, beautiful surroundings, most enjoyable...cheers cheers
Pammie

Well done everyone, Ernie that is one swell time.
JBD - good time for you on your debut at the distance
Mike Mason

Pete the OLD one

Decided that I wanted to do a third lap. My own fault really, I was watching the lady in fronts bum instead of paying attention on where I was going.

Estimated time for the 20 miles was just outside 3 hours, so well pleased with that.

Thanks Dean for the lift, gels, cup of tea and for waiting for me at the finnish.

Well run everybody. Great conditions for running. No wind, flat course, sunny but not too hot. Feel that I am just about ready for the Grizzly now.
Graham

Good effort Pete. As for Ernie - get that man a pair of X county spikes for the next 2 races.
Steve Des

Well today my ankle looks like one bit fat red sock. I know now that i made the wrong decision to run as no running for at least a week.
A grade 2 sprained ankle where the Anterior Talo Fibular (ATF) ligament  has been damaged has been diagnosed.
Still look on the bright side that will rule me out of xc on the 2nd March.

The question is - How many of you guys have turned up for a race & then for one reason or another had a valid reason not to run due to slight injury/cold etc but went for it and had regrets after. Not many i think.

The A12 is such a unlucky road for me, traffic jams 4 the Essex way relays & now this.

There were some cracking runs yesterday esp for the first timers, well done.
Lee O

Steve, sounds like you swallowed a Medical Book..

Get some Ice..

Tough Luck Capt..
Graham

You'll still be cutting some shapes on the floor come Sat wont you Cap?
Jez

Dessie,

That just goes to show you not to trust a  blind massage therapist and listen to your team mates,Jez and Ernie!Unless of course you wanted to miss the next x country hhhhhhhmmmm!!!
debbie g

Well done all of you.  Awesome Ernie wish you'd been pacing me but I'd have died I think!

Any medals guys?  Was Toddy there?  Thinking of sending in a report to the radio/paper even though I'm in sunny but chilly Malta!

How did Louisa do?
Steve Des

Jez, the physio  was the embarassing part of  the part of the story I wanted 2 keep stumm  blackeye
You should never have said he was s*it hot.  salute

Not been feelin right lately as i kinda enjoyed the last XC hopefully this will put me right & Boots, injured or not my shapes will remain the same

Karl C

mikemoreton

Least it wasnt ....  Minger
JBD

Yes, well done Jed.

I know it's selfish to post this but my time was actually 2.47.29 which is 2 and a half minutes quicker than I thought, and I am ecstatic about it, and not only that but I then realised I actually did the second 10 miles quicker than I did the first 10 and overall I just want to hug you all and I wont be there tonight and I'll have calmed down by next week but it's still great and well done Lorraine too and blooming eck that Crispian is a robot with that winning time but anyway I'm happy and I love Benfleet RC and running and I better leave it there......laters !
Jez

Thanks Mr M,

Glad to see we didnt accidently ski backwards of a cliff, landing horribly in a twisted and contorted manner breaking several bones in your body.....still theres always next year! cheese

PS Thanks Jack Daniels dad.
mikemoreton

Jez,

Not only next year, but maybe sometime soon for a long weekend. Legs did not ache at all this time, as in previous years, so you must have done something right for me. Not only did you get me round 26.2miles but my skiing improved.
Many thanks for that, I owe you one. (not sure what the 'one' is yet)

Top man

Mike
