eMail Newsletter 1st FebHello,IMPORTANT REMINDER – please ensure you drop off, and collect your children from inside the hall. We do not want them wandering around the car parks trying to find you after the session. Your help in this is appreciated. Next Session – Tuesday 5th February PLEASE NOTE THE HALL WILL BE SHUT FOR HALF-TERM ON TUESDAY 12th FEBRUARY. We are trying to organise a session at Waterside Track, Canvey. We will let you all know this week what we have planned. Waterside charge is approx £2 / £ 3 per person, We will continue to do outdoor runs, with all groups, so please make sure everyone has several layers to wear on the runs. Children now have high-viz bibs to wear. Over the next few weeks we will be grading, and assessing all the junior members, as to their speed, agility and endurance. Our aim is to then grade and coach specific groups at endurance running, and faster pace running dependant upon their ability. Next Race - 9th February We are focusing on the Brands Hatch 1 mile run this Saturday. Good luck to all who have entered. Let’s see plenty of red Benfleet Running Club vests / t-shirts on the course and lots fo support from the sidelines. Lottery Awards for All grant Application We currently have an application going through which, if successful will mean we can purchase extra equipment. We will keep you informed of the outcome. We have been selling photographs from our recent Benfleet 15 race, to raise funds for the Junior Running Club, and if anyone else has any fund-raising ideas we would love to hear them. Many Companies offer fundraising matching schemes (i.e. Royal Bank of Scotland). Please investigate if your Company can help with funding us. Norwich Union Shine Awards As mentioned previously, we have enrolled the Junior Club in the Norwich Union shine:awards and will be focusing heavily on the children’s involvement in this National Scheme to hopefully gain their certificates and medals and have fun ! The Norwich Union shine:awards is a flagship development of UK Athletics, which reflects its vision - 'fun to fulfilment'. More details can be found on http://www.norwichunionshineawards.com We will be incorporating many of the activities into our weekly sessions. We do need a completed membership form, and club fees paid please if they are to be enrolled into the scheme, and they can then work towards certificates and medals. Sport Relief Weekend 14th-16th March Saturday 15th March – we will be organizing a 1 mile run with children and parents. More details soon. We will be running a £ 2.00 lottery Sport Relief poster. If you want to join in and pick a celebrity, please bring your money next week. Lastly If you want to join in, or help at the session in any way we would LOVE you to get involved. Just come and see one of the leaders. If you want to get involved we will quite happily send you on any relevant courses. |
