Good turnout as far as I could tell from Benfleet last night. Charlotte was the 1st lady home once again with a PB to continue her streak! I finished 4th with a 5k PB of 26 seconds, 18:17. Very pleased with my performance, although still learning the trade of pacing. Bluewater 10k on Sunday next at a slightly ridiculous start time of 8:30am, hopefully I can get down to the seafront afterwards to cheer on the half marathoners which no doubt will be littered with the red and white of Benfleet.

Well done Mike that's a really excellent performance. I've missed the copy deadline for the Echo this week so I'll do a piece for next week Mike. If you post your result at Bluewater on the forum too you might rate more than a sentence this time

I hear they have now cut out the middle man and are just sending the winner's bottle of wine direct to Charlotte each month! CONGRATULATIONS CHARLOTTE

I think they may have made a mistake with my result. They put me down for 20.03 but it should have been 21.03.

I would just like to point out that the Crown to Crown report is from Pitsea (I believe) not me. And unless it was very wet and those of you who ran it finished on a bike I think calling the event "Triathlon" in today's paper might be a slight mistake...

So Mike although you get a name check for finishing in the top 20 I'm not finished with you yet - want a good performance at Bluewater and it's another mention of that 4th place as well

You'll have to find as race when there is nothing else going on though - with all those top Benfleet runners at Southend half it'll be a battle for column inches in the Echo next week!

I'm optimistic you'll get good billing on Friday though as I expect my Southend report to go in on Tuesday with the other club's reports when the results are printed.

So tell your Mum :blackeye:

Great news, thanks again Debbie. I'm very greatful, as long as the paps stop chasing me eventually...??! Feeling good about Sunday, hoping for a new PB. Good luck to all the guys and girls running Southend!
