The Fun Run is our official Junior Club Championships race, so if you can get there early to help and/or cheer them on that would be great !!
We have 25 Juniors pre-entered, and expect a few more on the day.

Well done to all who ran today. The ladies are back to stealing the show again Charlotte, Julia and Catherine took silver in the team, Julia silver over 45 but holding up the side for the men was Colin who took over 50 vet bronze. I am bound to say that although I didn't pick up a medal today I was really pleased with my 43:06 on a very hilly course (which I hate) and to be our 4th lady home.
And Graham Booty was the 1st Benfleet man home in a PB time too so well done Graham.
Mike Briggs got a PB too I believe great run guys.

Well done all.
Our own George Elliot won the Jnr race, with our Adam Foster second, and we had another 30 Juniors running - so well done to everyone !
We will be giving out our Championship Trophies to the Juniors at 6.45pm on Tuesday so if you can get to the club early to join in the awards that would be great.

Well done to all of you - some excellent performances on there. Titanium Graham did superbly to get inside 36 - back to form. Mike Briggs, the third good performance in the space of 2 weeks getting just over 37 minutes, on a course that was obviously not the easiest (note to Mike - choose a net downhill course for your next attempt and you will get there no problem!) Colin and Andy also did well after all their hard miles recently. The ladies all bunched together very well. And finally good to see that we have a great crop of youngsters willing to fill our boots when we become too old for this madness!

Thanks Kieron. Horrible race - really didn't enjoy myself at all and my legs feel like I ran a marathon yesterday, not just the 6.2 at the end. Didn't help when that Faye girl glided past me at around 6k looking gorgeous and hardly breaking sweat whilst I lurched and grimaced up the hills blowing out of every hole and getting slower and slower. I've since found out that she's of the same calibre and more importantly age as our Stacey, and been a life long athlete (and World University XC champion) so not feeling quite so glum at getting thrashed by a girl.
Girls as ever were great. Although our young boys did very marginally better than the young girls so we'll call it honours even!

Graham, going through 5k in 16:25 was suicidal on a course with those 2 hills in the 2nd half....but then again, your name and the term suicidal often meet in sentences i.e. Desert Marathons, Jurassic Challenge and your new project the Jurassic Challenge in 1 DAY!! Mental. Awesome time, well done mate. I was watching 'On Thin Ice' last night where Cracknell and Fogel in a race to the South Pole and half expect your face to pop up! Don't tell me you havn't thought about it!
Good performances all round, especially the youngens (not me!) in the fun run. Awesome bronze for Colin, great to see some medals for the guys! The girls led by Charlotte were on form again. 2nd and 4th in the team prize for the girls. Graham, Colin and I finished a respectable 7th in the mens team race, taking some notable scalps (Thrift Green, Billericay, Basildon AC). I was dreaming of a my 1st essex medal at the beginning of the day in the team prize, but it really was a high quality race.
I'm very pleased with my own race, running my best tactical race of the season. Steady through the 1st half with Colin at my shoulder keeping the pace brisk, held off through 5k knowing that alot of the field would die on the hills. I was like Alberto Contador up the alps, attacking and overtaking struggling peers on the slopes. Former Benfleet youngster Alan pushed me through the last mile in a tad under 6 minutes. My time was 37:19, 28 seconds PB. 33rd place with most of the big guns out is pleasing but not quite sure how one would ever run close to the winner's sub 32 minute winning time! Imposter, he wasn't even from Essex!

Bang on 6 minute miling there young Mike. Next race you'll be dipping below that barrier methinks!
