Cambodia in the OlympicsThanks a lot Mike, I've only just seen your message after nearly a month. I wasn't looking at the Forum as it would only make me miss Benfleet more!
I'm surprised there's no new thread about the Olympics, or am I looking in the wrong place?
While in Cambodia I met my friend Hem Bunting, an inspirational guy who is one of only four Cambodian sportsmen going to the Olympics. He's a marathon runner, the other three are a sprinter and two swimmers. The night before he flew to Beijing we organised a small send-off party for him and presented him with $200, we'd had a whip-round for him. Cambodian athletes get very little government support and they seem to get by on hand-outs.
Here are a couple of photos of our little party. If anyone's looking for another country to 'adopt' in the marathon on Sunday, why not choose Cambodia and give Bunting a cheer if you see him on TV!
