Bluewater 10kCongrats to all the Benfleet runners on Sunday in the Southend HM, I got down there as quick as I could from Bluewater to support the team, the 1st time I have represented the club as a spectator and not as a runner, oh how I enjoyed it! The reason for my absence on the start line was because of the Bluewater 10k which was ran at an early start of 8:30 around an area between Bluewater and the M25. To my suprise it there were several long, energy sapping hills which I struggled with and could not make an attempt on my PB. My final time was 38:41, finishing 26th. Any other Benfleet runners out on this one? I didn't see any other vests.

I also turned up for this one Mike. Unfortunately my legs didn't.
Had you done two laps you would have caught up with me I'm sure!
I was 10 minutes slower than last year and although I was expecting the hills I didn't cope with them this year. I think that this is a good course and very well organised. The water stations were well placed on such a hot day, especially at the top of that first hill.
I've been used to running 9 minute miles over the last 12 weeks so it was no surprise that my body rebelled after I went off like an idiot down the slope towards Dartford. Actually I may have got a PB if the distance had been 1 mile.
Why don't you try the Felsted 10K in July if you are seeking a PB?

Thanks Bob, I'll have a look at Felsted. I'm planning to do the dark lane 5k next then the brentwood 10k which is the Essex champs. You're right about the water stations, although I found it strange they didnt give out water at the finish you had to walk around for 5 minutes!

well done lads at least your race started at 8.30 not 10 probably much cooler.hopefully the hills will help for the brentwood race mike
would have liked to have done felstead but it clashes with the dark lane race which goes past my house so i cant miss that one !
