BBC Essex's Roger Buxton RetiresI know many of you will be at work when the BBC Essex sports reports go out in the morning but some of you will know that I submit regular reports to Roger Buxton who has put out numerous mentions for the successes of our Benfleet ladies and men in his 7.30 and 8.30 sports roundups. He has been a great supporter of local athletics and at times we've had weekly mentions of our achievements, quite frankly he's been brilliant for the club.
Sadly (for us not him!) he retired today. However I am delighted to say that as I have come to get to know him quite well I am still in touch with him and if we ever need a guest speaker at an event he'll be delighted to be there.
I sent him a card with best wishes for his retirement from all of us at Benfleet RC.
I'm hoping that his successor Ben Fryer will continue to support local athletics and give Benfleet regular mentions. All I need from you is top performances guys and gals - hey that should be easy it's thanks to all those past top performances that I've had so much to report to the radio and newspaper!
