Hi Mike
Your route to Battlesbridge is suicidal !!!
Cycling along the A130 is a definite No No, unless you have a death wish
If I was you I'd make your way To Vic House ( Bread & Cheese or Essex way )
Follow Rayliegh Road - X Weir into High Street
Turn down Crown Hill By Crown Pub !!
Go Under Railway Bridge - and turn Right into Downhall road
At end of Road TL - follow road round to Shops
TL into Rawreth lane - Cycle past Clive and Lyns
At end of road - TR ( on footpath for 100m )
Then pick up old road downhill to Battlesbridge
It won't take you any longer ....
But you might just make it in one piece !!

totally agree with mikey i wouldnt dare go on the a130
go with mikeys route or slightly better go straight on at the mini roundabout after the shops (rather than going down rawreth lane) then turn left where the road bends right (watery lane) then at the end of that turn right and your pretty much there
good luck everyone wanted to do this myself but my legs wont let me run this and again on tuesday

Watery Lane is a bit of a blind spot and very dangerous - bad enough when we run it so wouldn't want to cycle it.
Keep to Rawreth Lane if I was you.

Thanks guys,
I'd only intended to use the A130 between Benfleet and the 127 and then follow the route as past Rawreth lane.
I figured that early Sunday and provided the wind had dropped it would be reasonably safe, if only for the outward leg, but I bow to your knowledge and experience and will go via the weir.
My mean machine is not geared for hill climbs at the mo, double 48/41T front & a 14-28 rear ... and my rubbish legs!, so it may involve a couple of walks ... Crown Hill for definate ... who am I kidding, Essex Way as well!
See you at Baddow about 1:30 ... (only joking AndyF, I'll be at Battlesbridge as planned!)

well done to everyone today, lashing rain and severe wind in places, but I personally thoroughly enjoyed the conditions.
some great runs today, and some PBs, the biggest I think was Morgans at 9 minutes!!
A fantastic run from Ernie as always to come in just over 65 minutes.
Great PB from my Sarah who took 2 and half minutes off.
much thanks to the support from all who came to cheer us on who got soaked in the process. well done to everyone.

I would echo Pete with thanks for the support - was indeed extremely wet but quite pleasant running. I got a lot of support from my fellow Benfleet runners as they went past me ! Having started suicidally with a 6.40, it was always going to be the way.
Still, from considering whether to stop at around 2miles, I was really pleased to get round in about 75.30 and finishing strongly - I think it's a psychological thing !
Ernie is just awesome....so inspirational. Great run again, and he's just getting faster. Pete didn't mention his time but i would imagine it was darn good. Matt C dipped under 68 on his watch...he has been running great and i noticed he did around 77 last year so just shows. I gather Vanessa might just have missed beating 70 but another solid run most of us would be proud of. Well done Sarah N too and others I've missed like Steve Hark, Richard, Sarah G, Jo B.
Performance of the day ? Maybe Ernie but contender would be Morgan who had a superb run and it might have been a 9 minute pb but unless someone ran in his name last year he actually ran some 23 minutes faster this year !! Clarify that one Morgan....
Good work Benfleet RC and supporters....

Hi everyone, I've been down the pub, just wanted to say thanks to Clive, Vic, Mike G, Debbie, Brian and others for the call-outs and support this morning. I finished in 1:13:09, off my PB for 10 miles but better than my result in 2008 Great Baddow (good given the conditions). Well done to Richard (Benfleeter who overtook me and beat me by a minute or so), Kevin (new Benfleeter, a Rayleigh boy) who finished in 1:14+), Morgan and Steve JBD (1:15+). What a day! What a battle against the elememts!

Hi,
Well done to everyone who ran.
I would just like to add my thanks for the excellent support around the course, especially as the weather was pretty wet at times.
Thanks also to Steve JBD, for the words of encouragement over the last 200m otherwise I think I would have just plodded in over the finish line.
Yep, I did run this race last year (my second ever, and my first at 10 miles) - the training does work!
I think the results have got Hannah and Stephane the wrong way round, as I was standing with Hannah when Stephane finished.

BaddowYes you are right Morgan, Hannah came in just in front of me. Stephan a couple of minutes later.

Another Great Race with many great performances from Benfleet.
I hate to pick anyone out for a good performance specifically but Matt impressed me overcoming difficulties to come in with such a fast time, i'm under the impression that he is chasing me as i spotted him a couple of times earlier on in the race not far behind which helped to spur me on....thanks Matt !
Benfleet might not have been Medal Winners in this Race but I think we would of got Gold for the Support us Runners received.....thanks Guys !
I got an unexpected PB since I had felt that I would have been a little weakened by last weeks Halstead Marathon and I was running "blind" since forgetting my watch at home on the day.
Well no more of these fast Races for me for awhile since i'll tapering for the big one in June and then recovering for probably Months afterwards ........ but i'll be back !

Ernie...advice: leave watch at home every time....

Morgan - you might have run an ever better PB if you'd opted for a nice rain proof gilet instead of that ridiculous head gear.
