Well, it's warming up and gonna start going back to Thorney Bay - it's free and pretty sheltered.
Tide times (Southend) for weekend May dates I can manage are below. Generally try and get there 1 hour before high tide. All welcome and basic coaching/teaching skills on hand. Only got my ASA level 1 for swim teaching and swim coaching.
If you want to come play post your preferred dates and we can confirm a few days before.
Sat 9th (tomorrow) 12:36pm
Sat 16th - 16:40
Sun 17th (Baddow 10) - 17:42
Sat 23rd - 11:23am
Sun 24th 12:07pm

OK - not joining some of you for the ride to Baddow and race, my kids have forgotten what I look like this week so need to go out dead early Sun to keep the day free. Will be in the car park at Thorney Bay 4:30pm Sun. Big beige piece of s**t van you can't miss.
If it's blowing a complete hoolie then I wont be going - will post on the day to let you know. |

Hi
Sorry I am going to miss the swimming.
The wind is to good to miss so I am of kitesurfing on top of the water rather than splashing around in the Water.
Please count me in next time

| 20 plus mile per hour winds and picking up according to bbc weather, think it will be pretty choppy for swimming. Mike - you're the only person I haven't been able to contact. No one else is going at the moment so think it's best if we re-schedule. |

I got all excited and ran round the sea wall that day instead. Didn't see any guides though, just plenty of big waves.
Alas I have decided to go away this weekend, being a bank holiday and all that, so shall be doing my open water swimming off a beach in Sussex. No reason why you can't still go practice, although prob best to make sure there's at least two of you. Even though it's a bay can you can get quite a current so stay well within the bay and pick a nice colourful piece of graffiti on the sea wall to spot with as you can easliy get pulled off course.
Lyn & Vic might be swimming off Chalkwell beach over the weekend so you might want to ask up the club tonight.
More dates to follow. |

Glad to hear it Mike. It was a perfect day for it. Lovely and flat so no chance of getting sea sick....... :pukeleft:
Facing the hills of the UK Ironman70.3 this weekend, but Sun 21st has a nicely timed tide - 9:45am in the water. Put it in your diary. Sat 20th clashes with the track. |

I'll be there. We usually go an hour before high tide so approx 3:45 in the car park. Hope Tiddles will be joining us this time!
Wont be doing Sat as it clashes with the Lions.
Can pick you up again. |

I'll come along for the Wed swim.
Despite my ridiculous injury saga I have entered Clacton Tri in an effort to encourage the slightest level of exercise. Will probably have to run the 10k really slowly - in true triathlete fashion!
Might also need someone to adjust my wet suit, I have a sneaky feeling it won't fit me anymore! |

| After speaking to the girls at this evening's swim change of plan on Sunday. Me & Steve D are going to cycle into Southend bright and early and swim by the pier so we can support all the BRC competitors doing the Southend Tri. PM or email me if you want to come along and we'll arrange a meeting point and time. |

| High tide is 11:14am, so depending on race finish times for the Tri I reckon around 10:30-10:45. If you want to cycle over and cheer anyone on meet at Benfleet Station at 7:30am on an off road bike. |

I am off for two weeks. Get to swim every morning across Swanage bay, not dependent on tide times with good visibility too! And no catfish. Heaven.
And I get to compete loads during the fortnight - Swanage half marathon, Swanage bay swim, Swanage beach biathlon, Swanage 4mile fun run, Swanage Olympic Triathlon, Jurassic Coast Oner - and the one I really want to prove myself at this year - the yard of ale! Bottled it last year when some huge fella necked it dead quick and didn't enter. I walked away - the shame. This year I wont get intimidated. If Ernie can face down 250 miles and Nigel can challenge Neptune himself then I can surely meet a 20 stone real ale enthusiast head on over 1700ml of the local ditchwater. Grrrr. |

Graham,
Nothing less than a top 3 place in ALL events will do. The yard of ale is tricky though i believe.
Have a great time.
