I participated in the questionnaire for this article (and probably skewed the research) and will be off to the University of Lincoln for a Vo2 Max testing on 16 May. This is free. I had one last year at the University of Essex which I paid £60 for plus a flaming parking fine - Skinfold fat tests, Treadmill testing to exhaustion - lactate blood tests/Vo2 Max with fighter pilot head gear. This indicated that I was a porker, not putting in enough miles and not doing anything like proper interval training at correct heart rate measures.
This time I hope to see some improvements (well Ernie has commented on my nicely honed buttocks on our training runs). I have all the paperwork with my test levels and recommendations for improvement. If anyone wants a copy (for a laugh) contact me via e-mail and I will provide. I recommend the experience for all runners as it sets the baseline for you to work on....
