Aye. Superb stuff. Gave me a warm glow to see our new Cap'n collecting his first club trophy the day after his birthday. I even got a lovely stubbly kiss off him after!! Emotional stuff indeed.

Yes guys - brilliant result today. And Lee I think you are right we must have had 1st and 2nd ladies teams with 6 ladies in the top 20 and Lucy having an outstanding finish after losing her shoe at the start and nearly getting trampled by the ruthless mob !

Whilst still basking in the glow I have just written my report for the Echo so go and buy it guys (probably out Tuesday or Wednesday) and a report for BBC Essex which will go out sometime this week probably Tuesday at 7.45 or 8.45 am.

I calculate we are just one point behind TGT and are 2nd overall now -we are on 12points TGT 13.

So keep it up guys WE CAN DO IT !!!

well done everyone was impressed with the team packing today dont know if there were just more of you or whether it was down to thrift green not having so many running ?

got some cracking photos some of which might be used for the caption competition (i was on the short muddy hill at one point ! )ill get them sorted asap but i was a bit trigger happy so i need to sort out the best ones
well done to stuart for being only one of two to tackle that hill properly

oh and i think the ladies got 1-2 and 4 possibly 3 , it was close i think

Sorry Lee (and Dave) mis-read Lee's post. Stacey was 1st, Karen 2nd, Debbie Slack 5th Charlotte 9th Sharon 13th Lucy 16th. That's why I just plodded around and had fun. And I still beat the 4th and 5th TGT ladies!

Can't wait to see the photos Dave. Don't do hills thanks! I officially retire from x-country this season now the only ones left are the hilly ones!!

Well done Team !!!!

Thrift Green must have been expecting the win with an excellent 135 points (particularly good given the size of the field) but their hopes were dashed by an incredible 116 points for Benfleet

Brillant !

Top class win, well done to everyone.
Some of our runners actually bled for the club today!

Highlight of the day for me was deciding against my better judgement to run on an injury "for the good of the team" only to be told on the finish line that I was the first Benfleet man home who didn't score!
Made my day that did! Wink

Also, it was nice to see Dessie rise to the challenge and attack the course, well done captin, you looked really chuffed collecting that trophy!

Thanks Steff but the secret is now out ..
Graham promised he would smack me one if i did not get in the top 20 so imagine my relief when I came 18th.
However he meant the lips smack not the fist variety so we compromised cos he did finish top 10 so it was a cheeky one instead, either that or Graham said he wanted a kiss from his captain as reward 4 running so well & I felt shy collecting the trophy cos I knew what was coming Embarassed
A superb effort from all yesterday especially from the non scorers as every place helped 2 push down our rivals scorers
HAPPY DAYS

Smile Have been a member for just over a month but have only been able to come to 3 Tuesday sessions. BUT good news is that they were all hill sessions including last week's (Ouch !!) and therefore yesterday's XC hills seemed reasonably manageable. The flat bits let me down. Managed to finish 57th (will get better) having not done an XC for 10 years.

Was very impressed with the quality of the field and especially the high finishing positions of the Benfleet boys + girls. Well done to you all

Dave - that's right Basildon boy but considerably slower. Sorry should have recognised you given we joined on the same day and ran together. Have problems remembering who I saw yesterday so over a month ago !!!!

Were you injured on Sunday - have seen your name in previous XC results

David/Kevin, can I point out that club etiquette demands that references to previous Clubs have to be coded. For the one you are referring to 'those B's' is acceptable.................... Laughing

Apologies - appalling etiquette. I will never again mention B again or ever name drop about training with Eamon + Rob. Whoops !!

Kevin, well done. Now as a new member of the club it is imperative that you get yourself blooded in a good race...like the Benfleet 15. I happen to have a spare place as I am unable to take it up. Would you be interested?
