That was a tough race for me, I'd call it hilly, not undulating and the relentless wind in the face realy messed with my head between miles 3 and 5.
A good 10 mile event though.
Well done all who ran today, Dessie, I don't know how you ran that fast in testing conditions mate, but good on ya.
Did anyone else get a pb?

Lynda got a PB by over 5 minutes! Awesome run for her in those conditions.
Glad it wasn't just me Steff. I didn't hear too many complaints from others about the conditions but I felt exactly like you |

Unfortunately it wasn't a PB for me - in fact it was another PW (personal worst) . I'm getting used to them now because I think I've had one every race so far this year. Think I'll just write 2007 off and make a sensational come-back next year!!!!
Well done to everyone who ran in very windy conditions, especially to Debbie G whose lips had actually turned blue at the end so she must have been freezing. Well done also to Pete who got sabotaged at mile 2 when an over zealous competitor tripped him up but he didn't allow it to stop him and he carried on . This incident not only cost Pete the PB he was after but also cost me my pacer so I also blame the mystery saboteur for my finishing time (easier than blaming myself, over-eating, lack of training, too many late nights, too much alcohol........)!!!! Finally, well done Steve, Steff, Julia and Dean for your sub 1:10 finishes (those are speeds I dream about)!! |

Gutted for Pete, hope he beat the saboteur to the finish line. I ran with my elbows out in the first 200mtrs, it was quite heated at the start!
Steve, yep, knocked a big chunk off my previous ten mile time (1.05.09).
Wish I could have gone quicker but my head was all over the place between miles 3 and 5, lost a good minute at that point, my plan was to run at 6.15 pace and pick it up at the end but the hills and wind got to me. Managed to pull it together from mile 6 onwards and get a shift on in the last two. The splits say it all.......
6.01, 6.15, 6.34, 6.43, 6.23, 6.07, 6.18, 6.18, 6.01, 5.55
Everyone who ran Stebbing did well to get around in quite testing conditions. I'm quite looking forward to Chelmsford now!
