I signed up for this before i got a club place in FLM.  It is a well organised scenic 2 lap route (full) around stratford and the countryside.  The course is mainly flat with two small climbs at 4m and 8m.  There is an option to do full or half at 11.8miles.  I chose to do the later as I was cream crackered.  Finished in 2h 6min 13sec.  However I thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Worryingly my times are getting slower! I need to do some cross-training to keep my fitness up while my legs are recovering.  I will need to give Halstead a body swerve.  Next big un is Edinburgh!

This is my official finish time.

1170 866 2164 Robert Macmillan M  Benfleet RC 02:08:30  02:06:09

inspired by Debbie G i am now looking to change a few bad habits!

1. Less Stella artois
2. Less Walker Sensation crisps
3. More training
4. Use ipod to deafen the negative thoughts from 10 mile plus
5. Work on negative splits

Bob 3, 4 and 5 I would second but 1 and 2 - I'm with Mike that's just going too far.  After all Walkers Sensations crisps never did Gary Linaker any harm....

gmike,

sprint to offy, leisurely walk back to recover, drinking said contents of brown bag. Realise when getting home that contents have gone, then not knowing whether to: a) get more (I would) or b) go to bed (I would eventually)

Jez, If you have read this, then delete from memory.

Don't worry guys perhaps I was caught in a moment.  I may have been a bit rash with the ban on booze and crisps.
Sometimes, as they say, less is more, particularly if I change points 1. and 2. to an alternative brand of liquid refreshment and onion rings!

I've bought the ipod.  If nothing else I will use it down at the club to avoid listening to Lee Olney telling me how far he will beat me in the Loch Ness marathon! Apparently he is off the beer, crisps and SEX(I didn't think it was possible at his age anyway) until October.

I will test the negative splits in the 2 lap blue bell run!
