London Triathlon – 2009
The entries for London, have been open for a while now
http://www.thelondontriathlon.co.uk/
Hopefully we will get a good crowd out doing the Olympic event in 2009, like we did this year.
If you plan to do it and you’re female – Enter the Mixed Olympic Wave
If you plan to do it and you’re male
Enter the open Olympic Event - ( you can then transfer over to the Mixed Wave latter )
Hopefully we will get everyone into the same wave this way
This makes it a lot easier for the supporters to watch everyone
And we get to have a mini club championship over the Olympic distance at the same time
Of course, if you don’t want the pressure of competing against the rest of the club, or are feeling particularly anti social. Then you could always enter one of the age group waves, and compete by yourself !!

You're all too trusting - really I'm going to use your info to raid your bank accounts!!! Mind you, it is after Xmas, so if anything like mine - not a lot to raid!!
Anyway, today I sent details of the first 3 mugs, sorry, competitors - Andy F, Mike G and Mikey
Ian - no PM from you - try again
And anyone else who needs to be moved into the mixed wave - send me your details
Father Xmas brought me a turbo, so the fun begins!! |

Toni
I think having used my Turbo numerous times this year. I should point out, the words "Turbo" and "Fun" DO NOT belong in the same sentence. You have to trust me on that one, also while we are on the subject of Turbo trainers am I the only person ever to be unlucky enough to puncture on a turbo. How does that happen?

Thanks Andy for your words of wisdom
I must confess - the turbo is in the house - the bike in the garage - they have yet to be formally introduced!!!
However, i plan to try tomorrow (isn't it always tomorrow)?I am sure with some old trash on the TV, those turbo miles will just fly past and if I fall off (which is very probable) becauase of the silly shoes, I won't get run over...............win, win......oh, and I should get faster?...........win
Puncture - I can't even mend a proper one, let alone a turbo one. You must have been going very fast
p.s. I've requested Ian and Morgan get moved too - so that makes quite a few of us for London |

Sorry to say - I've pulled out.
Just had a tooth out and have been advised - no open water swimming for 10-14 days in case of infection - and let's face it - very likely in that water!!!
So I will be spectating and shouting instead - so not quite the same - but still part of Team Benfleet!!
The good thing is, I have already got a place for next year |

Toni I’m gutted ....
I've been sharpening up over the last week or so, just so that I could get revenge for Southend !!
Although my victory was assured, it would have been nice to know exactly how much I’d put you back in your place ...
Its a pity as I’m not planning to take any other Tri's that seriously this year, so we're never know will we
You take care
Looking forward to your words of encouragement on the day

Mikey - well of course you would have won - but now we won't know for sure and you'll have to wait until next year to beat me in a tri - which means - until then - I am the best !!!!
Am gutted too, but still looking forward to the day and joining Bobby and co for lot's of shouting and cheering.
Will be there every step of the way - just without the effort.......... |

Toni, Gutted you can't take part this year
Isn't it nice of London Tri to let you take part again next year, as long as you pay another entry fee, the same thing happened to me in 2006
Good news is now I'm guaranteed to be at least the 9th best Triathlete in a club of over 300 people in the unofficial club championship _________________ Whad'ya mean "Run fat boy, run"? I AM running! |

Not long now, really looking forward to this one. Weather is looking good at the moment, light wind and sunshine
http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/se/london_forecast_weather.html
What time are you all going on Saturday to rack bikes etc?
And finally and possibly more importantly, is it all in the Hoy after? |

Me, Mike and Caroline are going up quite early to rack & then will be there all afternoon to watch some of Caroline's relatives. I think Morgan is racking late in the afternoon. _________________ Whad'ya mean "Run fat boy, run"? I AM running! |

| Have just returned from a great day supporting the London Tri. A sizzling performance from Andy Frith meant he was not only our first man home, but looked extremely relaxed in doing it. Morgan and Grooty also had great runs and Caroline and Mike did a good job supporting each other although I do believe Caroline was doing it for the girls up to the run. Good to see Anna in fine form and having a good run to dispel the ghost of last year. Ian Jordan also did well in his usual stoic way, and of course, Kirste, what can you say. How can somebody work that hard and look that beautiful. And whats more she was smiling all the way through it. Well done to you all an inspiration, but sadly not enough to make me want to have a go. Rest and recupration is the order of the day. You made us proud. |

Thanks to everyone who came to cheer us on today.
It realy made a diffence to see some familar faces in the crowd and I did appreciate it .. even if i did have my serious tri face on :cherry:
And Team Benfleet .. What can I say .. Superb efforts all round .. especially Andy and Morgan who gave it some serious welly and Mikey who rode me ragged on the bike course
I have just returned from Stage 1 of my London recovery ... Chicken Pathia & Mushroom rice at The Benfleet Tandoori
Anyone signed up for next year yet?? |

Very quick Transition times there Andy you must be a quick runner with your bike.
Mike G needs to improve your swim times as your bike & run times were about the same as Morgan's.
I think Mike & Caroline forgot it was a race and not a training run.
Great result for Anna, under 3 hours next year and a Half Ironman?
And finally thanks to Kirste for almost running me down, there was no way I was going to walk with you catching me up all the way round. _________________ Whad'ya mean "Run fat boy, run"? I AM running! |

Well done everyone ... What a good day out that was
Thanks to all the supporters, you where very vocal and defiantly spurred us on
Excellent time Andy ...
Defiantly fulfilling the promise you showed from last year
Likewise with Morgan
Thanks for the Cat & Mouse on the bike course Mike G
Enjoyed the challenge, rest assured I will be quicker on the hills next year ..
Think all 3 of you need to join Caroline and Myself at Wimerball next year
Just for the record Caroline and I were racing on the run section
It was just coincidence that our race pace was exactly the same !!
Looking at the splits you can see that I had the race under control all the way beiing consistently 1 second ahead. Managed to maintain this lead even though i was holding the hand of one of Caroline grandsons, as we dipped for the line.
Well done Anna, you looked very strong on the run, and good to get a finish under your belt after the disappointment of last year.
As always a typically determined race from Ian, and I think a big improvement from last year.
And finally Kirste was as always was a mega example to us all ...
A real privilege to cheer you in at the finish |

first chance to post on this one - seeing as I flew out on hols straight after all that cheering
what a great day - well done all team Benfleet - fantastic performances - enjoyed the swim bit - we were on bag duty - handing out all the bags to the exiting swimmers and helping with the occasional wetsuit undoing
then onto the bike - what can I say - Mikey - it pains me to say BUT the red and white cycle tops were great from a sepctator point of view - we could spot you all off a mile off
and the run - you all looked so comfortable - and then there was Mr Ipswitch...........supporter ladies - you know what I am saying.............. |
