I'm pleased to see so many getting a place.
Gutted I'm not in!
There's always a bright side:- see you at the expo by the Free London Pride stall!
The Jacket- there is something essentially wrong with a grown man wearing a jacket emblazoned with Virgin! |

I’m in ….
But don’t think I’m going to bother this time
Think I’ll carry it over to 2011
Works better for me then, and will allow me to concentrate on Jogle training in 2010 !!!! |

And the morale of todays story children is....when you get a deferred entry, make sure you check the bloody date that you have to return it by!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Do you know anybody who's done this recently -I do! :confused5:
Shall have to be an embarrassed spectator next year-but good luck to all that have got in this year. |

found this today - may be of help to some :
Evaluate your fitness
If at the moment the only thing that runs is your nose then great! This is your starting point and the marathon finish line is your end point. We all need to start somewhere so find out where your somewhere is! This article will help you - http://www.realbuzz.com/articles/training-for-a-marathon/
Select a training plan
Trying to prepare for a marathon without a training plan is like trying to find a new town, without map. To successfully set off on this journey towards marathon success, you need to follow a structured training plan that is right for your fitness levels. Starting to train now will obviously increase your fitness levels so that when you start your marathon specific training program you will be a lot fitter! I suggest for the remainder of the year you start a 5k or 10k training program. Preparation is the key to success!
http://www.realbuzz.com/shop/category/pdfs/
Get the right gear!
Quite simply to start with you need basic shorts and t-shirt (and for the ladies a fitted sports bra). But as you progress with the training you will undoubtedly want to get clothing that won't chafe, and will suit the season you're training in. For many Summer is now behind us and we are going into a period of cold windy weather. Shorts and a cotton T-shirt will simply make your training harder and uncomfortable!
However, you should really invest in a pair of trainers that suit your running style. There are many running shops which can assess your 'gait' and give advice on the correct shoes. Why don’t you get yourself a Christmas gift early!
This article will help you with more clothing and shoe advice! http://www.realbuzz.com/running-gear/
How much training do I need to do?
Up to a point, the more training you do the better. However it is vital that you allow for rest and recovery too. Your training plan should comprise a careful blend of long runs, recovery sessions, and faster-paced training as you build up your marathon specific endurance. For more information on training plans visit: http://www.realbuzz.com/shop/category/pdfs/ |
