This was a well organised and fun event to take part in............. especially if you have a Mr Booty in your team. This was our first stab at an adventure race so we didnt really know what to expect.
As you arrive at registration you are given loose details which basically said, run , bike, run , kayak, run, surprise!
This basically transpired to be run approx 3 miles, 15 miles of challenging(technical and great fun)mountain bike, run 2 1/2 miles to river, Kayak approx 1/2 mile, run 2 miles, then assault course.
If you are looking to do something completely different but want to do it as part of a team then have a crack at this, you wont be disappointed.
I shall let Graham fill you in on his amusing day, needless to say its a belter! _________________ Jez

Ha! Minor bike malfunction. Broke my chain warming up. Took it all in my stride naturally and stress levels kept low. Eventually got it fixed by the mechanics with a good 90 seconds to to spare before the race started. Alas a mile or so in it snapped again and mashed my mex into the rear spokes. Cue vast amounts of profanity(again)!! Race over I thought....so I ran back to the start with my bike on my shoulder thoroughly dejected. But all was not lost. I haggled the bike rentals down from 37.5 to 20 notes, checked a map at race info, bike route was 2 smaller laps followed by a longer one so battled my way through the back markers on my trusty new steed (harder than it sounds on a dead narrow tree lined twisting track) till I found the start/finish of the first lap. Less than 5 mins later the boys came pelting down a hill and I was back in the game.
Anyway I was glad I was on a rental when somene in front stacked it on a steep descent and I ended up cartwheeling over them in a mass of bikes and flailing limbs. Like Jez said, great fun! And we took two teams in the kayaking. Benfleet KC here we come.... |

If they put more downhill mountainbiking in there and add some big scary jumps... I'm in for the next one!
My bike is set up for dual slalom racing and dirt jumping with only one 48 tooth chainring and NO GEARS! (or any real brakes)! Uphill is a no go!
Sounds like you all had a good time too, I'll be looking forward to a full acount at the presentation evening after a few beverages Mr.Booty!!!
