Next Session – Tuesday 9th September
Outdoor training continues at Benfleet Recreation Ground, Brook Road , Benfleet , Essex.
Three of our girls have drafted a "suggestion form" to give out to enable the kids to suggest or complain about certain activities and promote their favourites. It was their idea, as they said some things we do they don't like, and other stuff we haven't done for a while they really enjoy.
There will be a suggestion box on the table everyweek for posting ideas.
This is for regular feedback from the children, and we will award a prize for any "new" activities suggested and used.
We are hoping to stay outdoors as long as possible, and for the whole of September at least. Make sure you have your waterproofs !
We are going to organise a Star: Track award session in September;
1 running event (60m covers all the ages) - 1 jumping event (standing long jump) and 1 throwing event (javelin).
All the kids will do all these three activities in the hours session.
We record their three time/distance, and these then relate to points, and all three points tally goes towards their coloured award. (gold, silver, right thro to orange, etc.) Copies of the Certificates will be given out on the night, and if the kids want to buy medals then they can.
CROSS COUNTRY SEASON is nearly upon us.
We are touting for all our older youngsters to compete in the Essex Cross Country League this year.
This starts on 11th October, and is the first event is hosted by Loughton Running Club. Exact details to follow.
Minimum age is 11 years old, and there are various age/sex classes and times -
12.00pm Under 13 yr old girls, 12.20pm Under 13 yr old boys, 12.40pm Under 15 yr old girls, 1.00pm Under 15 yr old boys, 1.20pm Under 17 girls to 20 yr old women, 1.40pm Under 17 men and senior women, 2.00pm Senior men.
SO, we will be practising on a Tuesday with some more "off-road" type running, so it could get muddy !
NEXT RACES
We are going to focus on many more future local races.
For the older children (would suggest 9 yrs and older and children comfortable with these distances) can now focus on 3k (1.8 miles), and 5k (3 miles) races.
The younger, and not as confident children will focus on 1k races only.
These include September 7th Canvey 5k, September 14th Basildon 5k, September 21st Dedham 3k, October 5th Southend 3k, October 5th Maunden 5k.
Membership Fees
Most of our regulars have now paid their fees (£ 5) and this runs until November 2008.
Please bear in mind we may need to amend this figure before we go indoors, dependant upon the cost of the indoor hall.
