Mikey
Have just done Felsted in 72 min 7 seconds. a PB!
I am so excited for my first PB and now done 2 - 10k's and 2 half marathons.
Questions:
1, Do i get 4 results now or 4 'proper' results and 2 defaults
or do i have to run other races and no default scores?
2, Does this weeks crown to crown count in the table?
3, When will the table be updated?
Think thats all

MM2
1. Yes you will now have 4 results
( 2 off Default 18 points + 2 off "proper" results based on your MT pb's set on the default races )
2. No - its a cross country race so doesn’t count
( have already removed previous C2C race from MT )
3. Would have been doing it now, if I hadn’t had to answer this post instead !!

Yes it's finally here
Page [2] of the 11.07.07 Update
MM2's fine PB has propelled him to 29th place
Keen watchers of the MT, predict that with 2 more reasonable races, he could even make the front page !!!

Nobody has obviously got 6 races yet on the merit table, still half a year to go tho.
Dont worry mate, my Merit table return starts with with Little Havens 5km next month and will be racing lots for the second half of this year |

Dear Spokey
Nice to hear from you again, don’t think I’ve heard from you since just before the club Duathlon.
Anyway, glad you’re now taking an interest in the Merit Table
The “MT” as we like to call it is a internal club competition to determine the runner who has improved the most over the last year.
It has been running in it's current format for the last 7 years, and has an impressive record for highlighting the outstanding runners of the year.
The MT is not based on pure speed, but instead uses runners best times from the previous year as the bench mark.
Runners get points as a percentage of their previous years best time, plus a nice bonus if they set a new PB ( Personal Best ).
We compare times over the following race distances
5k ( kilometers )
5 Mile
10k
10 Mile
Half Marathon ( 13.1 Miles )
You can run as many times as you like during the year, but only you’re best 6 results will count towards your final total.
If you need any more help on this subject, full details are available on the website.
Thanks again for you’re interest ............... and good luck
Regards
Mikey |

| The point I was trying to make is why are there two Merit Tables posted, both dated 11 July. One posted on 11 July and then another on 16 July? Then realised that the second one was "page 2". Forgive me, I'm a lawyer. I don't read things properly! |

Latest Merit Table Update
Strong runs by Trevor & John Small at the Dartford 1/2M see them leaping up the table.
But Peter Watson, and Steve Drummond are still holding onto the Top spots
Mike Moreton’s Lee Valley 10k result now added to MT ……….
But is it enough to get him onto the front page ?
Full Results coming to the Forum and Clubhouse near you soon

Apologies to Big Phil and Trevor - as I haven't posted the picture from the Wife's phone that we took at Dartford. Hopefully the Wife won't have accidently deleted it before I see her again (could be a while as I'm in Greece at the mo and she is at a cub camp in sunny(?) Rochford!
Yes I did get the better deal :blackeye: !
Cheers,
John
PS that is definately the last thread that I go completely off topic on... today (scouts promise Karl ) _________________ Gordon: Go on then, run!
Dennis: Isn't there some kind of like... special technique?
Gordon: Well... yeah... you put one leg in front of the other over and over again really really fast. |

Latest Results Now In ....
Including Harlow 10 and Little Havens 5k
We have a new leader in Peter Adeleke
His strong run at the Little Havens 5k being enough to push him into top stop.
It's all very close at the moment, with no one runner dominating the MT! There's still a lot of racing left in the season, who's going to make a late run for glory ?

Now Mike I think I might enter this.
I know its a numptie ? but isnt it about improving pbs?
I think I could improve some of mine so:
Can I pick my own races or do they have to be local ones?
Can I backdate the Mersea 10 and start from there?
Do I have to include 5K as my pb is about 6 years old and Ill never get near it?
And finally I take it triathlon runs dont count as if they do Im scuppered for my 10K time which might be Silverstone 10 years ago (getting an old girl) and is about 45minutes _________________

Lucy,
No you cant. All my first races were pb's so didnt count
As long as they are measured by the athletic standards, or someone official then that race counts, so long as you have proof of times etc
not sure on the rest, but thought i might try to help as mikey takes forever
PS: just kidding on the first line, and the last
PPS: Ask hubby
PPPS: come to the club and ask mikey.....I pester the life out of him. |

Lucy - See here for abit more info
http://www.benfleetrunningclub.com/merit.table.htm#bit
Basically this is just to show the most improved runner over the last year so you are only trying to beat last years time.
For example:
If you haven't run a 10km for a couple of years then decide to run one this year you will be setting your new time, then during that year or the next you will be aiming to beat that time in order to get merit table points.
"Can I pick my own races or do they have to be local ones?"
You can pick your own races aslong as they are known to be measured.
"Can I backdate the Mersea 10 and start from there?"
Not sure what you mean but if that was your first 10 miler then that's the time you need to beat.
"Do I have to include 5K as my pb is about 6 years old and Ill never get near it?"
That time is no longer relevant, only a 5k run since the start of 2006 will need to be beaten for this years merit table.
"And finally I take it triathlon runs don't count"
I think your right there I don't think they do count.
Mike will be able to give you some more info proberly
Regards

Hi Lucy
Don't worry .... You're already in this years MT
Everyone is who has a race result posted on the club website
Haven’t had the Mersea 10 results yet, so if you could pass them onto Karl , that would be a help.
Unfortunately Triathlon runs don't count, because they're not officially measured ( in some cases not measured at all, but just random approximations of the run distance !!! )
But if you have any other 5k , 10k , 5 Mile , 10 Mile , or Half Marathons you've done this year that aren’t on the website I'll include them for you ( Remember they have to be officially measured road races )

Latest Results Now In - Upto and Including the Canvey 10k
Peter Adeleke is still holding onto top spot with 130.47 points
But Sarah has jumped from 4th to 2nd place with 128.62 points
Peter Watson slips to 3rd on 127.54 points, but is he running well enough to improve his position ?
Denise Nevile is showing a late end of season run, in 6th place with 3 PB's and running well, there's plenty of scope to move higher up the table.
With the Ingatestone 5 and Southend 10k coming up soon, it could be all change at the top.
